Job Description Summary

This Lead Engineer -Mechanical is primarily responsible for leading the NPI design and maintenance of Excitation and Static Starter product configuration. This role requires, close co-ordination with NPI lead and manufacturing teams to ensure design to build. Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. You will work in a global environment with a skilled cross functional team of engineers creating and improving state-of-the-art platform for use in every kind of power generation application.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Concept and Basic Mechanical design - Packaging of Electrical/ Electronics components, Cabinet design, Cabling
  • Panel Level thermal and seismic simulations, Board Level thermal analysis
  • Detail engineering and Validation of design
  • Develop innovative own designs from specifications and create drawings and assembly details in 3D CAD for indoor and outdoor cabinets, containers, etc.
  • Sizing, calculation and specification of other mechanical equipment
  • Provide well thought out practical engineering solutions, troubleshooting and identifying issues affecting cost and reliability before and after installation
  • Preparation of BoM (bill of materials) for all of the components and tracking the updates
  • Participate in relevant formal design reviews
  • Work with suppliers to produce production quality components
  • Preparation of technical design reports, drawings and specifications
  • Writing test specifications (routine test, type test) for mechanical tests based on IEEE/IEC/UL/CSA standards
  • Ensure OTD /FTY of deliverables
  • Drive Technical and Risk management
  • Drive Cost out & DMP activities.

Required Qualifications

  • B.E/B.Tech or M.E / MTech (Mechanical)
  • Experience in Mechanical Design with product development expertise (8-12 Years)
  • Proficient in 3D Modelling, Assembly and Detailing using CREO
  • Proficient in design of control panels /electromechanical boxes
  • Proficient in designing medium complex sheet metal structure
  • Proficient in Thermal hand calculations and basic simulations (Conduction, Convection, Heat dissipation and increase in temperature) to facilitate selection of heat sinks, Cooling systems like Fans etc.
  • Expertise in new conceptualization, layout and equipment design/optimization with required technical specification
  • Good knowledge in CAD tools, Sheet metal design and international standards
  • Experience in using different thermal and seismic analysis tools
  • Exposure to Manufacturing process and Quality standards
  • Demonstrate leadership and ability to motivate others to achieve results, strong influencing skills
  • Lead Experience to work with cross-functional teams and global assignments
  • Self-starter, Initiator & Solution finder for critical problems with high motivation
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
