Lead Engineer - Customer Project Engineering

Job Description Summary
Project Lead engineer is responsible for leading the Protection & Control design packages for Digital & Conventional projects of EHV/HV Substation in accordance with customer specification and contract requirements, considering the safety, quality, delivery and cost. The candidate is the technical guarantor for the proper performance of design within the customer delivery requirements, design budget (man days) and quality, thereby promoting ease of installation, operation and maintenance of the system.

Scope of work

  • Lead the team of engineers & manage the team deliverables to meet the internal and external project milestone.
  • Be accountable for team project's engineering solutions & project timelines with appropriate Job Study, Project Reviews and communication to the required stakeholders.
  • Identify skill requirement & Develop/Train the team engineers.
  • Perform Job Study and Identify/propose simple & cost-effective solution.
  • Prepare & follow project strategy, Master document list with delivery schedule, Finalise Project Bill of Materials / budget man-days. Ensure project risks are mitigated in the OTR with required documentation & communication.
  • Perform document reviews to Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Process. Validate the engineering deliverables to meet design safety, contract requirements, Standard.
  • Attend Customer technical meetings and secure approvals.
  • Co-ordinate with various stakeholders including Testing team and participate in Factory inspection plan (FAT) to ensure successful closure of open points.
  • Provide support to the site team to resolve technical issues and raise snag lists.
  • Share Return of Experience and implement the applicable RoEs in project design.
  • Manage technical interface with sub suppliers & partners, prepare input data, check consistency
  • Adhere to all safe working procedures in accordance with EHS instructions. Demonstrate commitment to safety through active participation


Time delivery
  • Ensure Quality on-time delivery of design to stakeholders
  • Manage and monitor detailed execution progress in line with customer milestones.
  • Coordinate with project manager for technical meetings with stakeholders, accelerate the engineering as appropriate to meet the project milestones.
  • Input to Variation Order (VO) prepared wherever applicable.
  • Manage design time spent on relevant activities and adhere to budget.


Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical & Electronics) or (Electrical)
  • 14+ years' experience independently managing Switchyard and Generator Protection and Control Engineering
  • Product (Protection IEDs) Knowledge, Protection philosophy & concepts, Cubicle mfg. knowledge, Engineering calculations & Design tools
  • Overview of Power System & Primary Equipment
  • Knowledge of Substation Automation would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of various customer utility practices and standards
  • Knowledge about Project organisation and engineering process.
