About Position
As a Lead Engineer Control System, you will be responsible for new product introduction (NPI) execution activities on Control System design and working for Hydro Control System CoE (Center of Excellency)
You will work autonomously and deliver as directed and under supervision of the principal engineer for the NPI project or by the Control System Engineering Manager.
You will perform hardware and software design of the various hydro Control system requirements for upcoming technology to meet market requirements.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain control logic using Rockwell Studio 5000 for ControlLogix, CompactLogix, controllers.
  • Create reusable code libraries, AOIs (Add-On Instructions), and standardized control templates.
  • Configure and customize Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE/ME/Optix, FactoryTalk Linx, FT AE and related services.
  • Develop reusable SCADA templates, standards, and global object libraries.
  • Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), historians, simulators, and test benches.
  • Interface PLC systems with VFDs, Smart MCCs, protection relays, and smart instrumentation HART.
  • Industrial communication protocols prevailing in the industry (Modbus, IEC61850, IEC60870-104, DNP 3, OPC UA etc.), and EtherNet/IP-based communications.
  • Develop simulation environments (emulators, soft controllers, hardware-in-the-loop).
  • Design and develop modular, scalable PLC/SCADA architectures using Rockwell Automation platforms with IAB tool.
  • Build proof-of-concept (PoC) PLC/ SCADA applications to evaluate new control strategies, firmware features, and hardware platforms and create final documentation on completion of NPI.
  • Evaluate new Rockwell technologies, firmware, and software releases for applicability in future solutions.
  • Develop test plans, test cases for PLC/ SCADA applications and FAT and SAT with customers.
  • Collaborate with control system product leader and system architects on control platform roadmaps.
  • Regular patching of control platform for venerability management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Control from accredited college or university
  • 8 to 14 years of Controls Engineering experience with at least 5 years relevant experience in Rockwell PLC hardware design and software programming/design.
  • Tools Expertise - Rockwell Automation based Control System tools (RS linx, FT Linx, FT services, Studio 5000, FT View studio)
  • Should be aware of applicable standards and best practices in DCS design, including HW design, SW logic and User interface (HMI) design, control cubicle design and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Should be aware how to configure Stratix L2/L3 switches for switching and routing with time synch for NTP/PTP.
  • Should be aware of global Cybersecurity standards such as IEC62443.
  • Preferred industry experience - Hydro Power, Large EPC, Oil & Gas and OEM and System Integrator.
  • Good command over written and spoken English is mandatory for global stakeholder and customer management.
  • Able to manage and resolve conflicts in a fast-paced project execution environment. Clearly communicate and listen. Guide and motivate fellow team members.

Desirable

  • Working experience on Rockwell Automation based Control System is preferred
  • Candidates with exposure in Network and Cybersecurity domain will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft server (System administrator) and VMware virtualization will have added advantages.
  • Willing to travel with in India and abroad for shorter and longer duration.
