Job Description Summary
The Aeroderivative Performance & Operability Engineering team is a critical pillar within the Aeroderivative Engineering organization, operating at the intersection of engineering, commercial, and digital domains. The team covers project execution and model development for aspects related to performance (thermodynamic cycle models) and operability (including emissions, fuel flexibility, and controls).
As a Performance Engineer focused on cycle modeling, you will provide essential leadership by developing, maintaining, and executing thermodynamic cycle models using industry-standard tools like NPSS (Numerical Propulsion System Simulation). You will work alongside experienced engineers to build the foundation of your career in gas turbine performance engineering while contributing to critical projects that power industries worldwide.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead Model Development Lifecycle: Drive the creation, adjustment, validation, and application of thermodynamic cycle models for Aeroderivative gas turbines using NPSS and associated tools.
- Develop and Refine Operability Models: Manage the lifecycle for operability models, including emissions, fuel flexibility, and control aspects, ensuring models reflect operational realities.
- Test Plan Development & Field Support: Define and develop engineering test plans, supporting field tests to gather data that drives improvements in both performance and operability models.
- Field Data Integration & Model Validation: Lead the data reduction and status-matching of cycle models (steady state and transient) to various data sources.
- Technical Leadership: Act as a performance and operability technical expert for Aeroderivative gas turbines.
- Enable Automation & Tool Development: Build APIs, scripts, and tools using Python, VBA, AI, and NPSS that connect our modeling ecosystem, unlock AI/ML capabilities, and streamline team operations
Required Qualifications
- This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Performance Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
Desired Characteristics
- Understanding of gas turbine thermodynamics, controls, emissions, and operability
- Significant experience in Aeroderivative performance modeling, particularly in data reduction, status matching, and NPSS cycle model development.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively to analyze and resolve complex problems.
- Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, AI code assistants, C, etc.)
