This job is no longer available.

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical, tech-forward Lead Customer Application Engineer to join our APAC Service team. This critical role is responsible for the technical and commercial integrity of proposals for High Voltage (HV) Service solutions.
In this position, you will act as a technical "gatekeeper," using a combination of deep HV expertise and modern digital tools to ensure every proposal is accurate, competitive, and risk-mitigated. The scope covers Circuit Breakers, Transformers, and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS), ranging from standard maintenance to complex Extensions & Conversions (E&C), Retrofit, Modification & Extension (RME), and Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA).

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Meticulous RFQ Analysis: Lead the technical review of customer Tender Documents (RFQs). You are responsible for "detecting" the true scope of work, identifying hidden requirements, site constraints, and technical gaps.
  • AI & Digital Tool Leverage: Proactively utilize AI tools and internal digital platforms to enhance tendering efficiency. This includes using technology to assist in data extraction from RFQs, optimizing proposal documentation, and improving the speed of technical responses.
  • Precision Costing & Estimation: Develop highly accurate cost estimates. Ensure all elements-labor, materials, logistics, and factory/SU inputs-are calculated with precision to protect business margins.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct rigorous risk reviews for every tender. Identify potential technical, commercial, and operational risks and develop robust mitigation strategies (contingencies, technical alternatives, or contractual caveats).
  • Site Surveys & Customer Engagement: Travel across the APAC region to conduct site surveys. Translate findings into detailed technical reports and "ground-truth" estimates. Participate in technical/commercial negotiations to defend proposals.
  • Internal Tool Mastery: Stay continuously updated on all internal platforms, including Salesforce, Speak, and SAP, as well as any new central initiatives or software rollouts.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate with regional factories and Supplying Units (SUs) to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, cost-effective, and OEM-compliant.

Working Mode

  • Hybrid Model: A balance of remote work (from home) and occasional office presence for collaborative reviews and team meetings.
  • Travel: Required for site surveys and customer negotiations across the APAC region (estimated 20-30%).

Candidate Requirements

  • Technical & Scoping Expertise: Extensive experience with HV equipment (CB, TR, and GIS). Proven ability to dissect complex technical specifications and identify the precise scope of work.
  • Digital Literacy:
    • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve productivity and accuracy in a professional environment.
    • Continuous Learning: A proactive mindset regarding the adoption of new internal software and digital workflows.
  • Estimation & Risk Management: Advanced capability in technical cost estimation and identifying/mitigating project risks.
  • Software Mastery:
    • Advanced Power User: Microsoft Excel (complex costing models) and Microsoft Word.
    • System Proficient: Direct experience with Salesforce, SAP, and Speak.
  • Professional Attributes:
    • High level of individual accountability; capable of managing a large portfolio of tenders independently while remaining a key team contributor.
    • Adaptable to shifting regional boundaries and business realignments within the APAC territory.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline, or High School Diploma in a relevant core discipline
