GE Vernova is accelerating the path to a more reliable, affordable, and sustainable electric grid. As a Lead Applications Engineer - DMS, you will provide technical leadership in the design, development, and delivery of advanced software applications that help utilities and grid operators manage increasingly dynamic distribution networks.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of critical functionality across Distribution Management Systems (DMS), SCADA, and modeling applications, driving high-quality technical solutions that improve grid visibility, reliability, and operational performance. You will serve as a key technical leader across cross-functional teams, partnering with engineers, project stakeholders, and customers to define functional requirements, guide design decisions, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure successful delivery of advanced power systems applications.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, integration, testing, tuning, and delivery of advanced power systems application software to meet product and project commitments.
  • Own and drive functional solution development with electric utilities, ISOs, and transmission/distribution operators to ensure software requirements are clearly defined and successfully implemented
  • Lead implement and maintain functionality across DMS, SCADA, and modeling applications, including DMS/DTS/DERMS solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams, guiding system/project engineers, frontend developers, and EMS/DMS application engineers through design and delivery decisions.
  • Develop functional software design documentation and support adherence to design and development standards.
  • Drive technical input on schedules, effort estimates, and project planning.
  • Lead interface with customers to address technical issues and support product proposals and demonstrations.
  • Troubleshoot and support advanced distribution automation applications, including power flow, fault isolation and service restoration, Volt-VAR optimization, fault location, and feeder reconfiguration.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 yearsof experience in software engineering, applications engineering, or power systems engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with utility software applications such as DMS, EMS, SCADA, DERMS, or related systems.
  • Experience supporting or developing at least 2 advanced power systems functions, such as power flow, FLISR, Volt-VAR optimization, fault location, or feeder reconfiguration.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle activities including design, coding, testing, integration, and deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Distribution Management Systems (DMS) and/or Energy Management Systems (EMS) applications.
  • Familiarity with utility operations, distribution automation, and transmission/distribution system workflows.
  • Experience writing functional design specifications for power systems software.
  • Knowledge of grid applications such as SCADA, DTS, DERMS, or related operational technologies.
  • Experience supporting customer demonstrations, technical proposals, or solution presentations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a Software Center of Excellence or similarly structured engineering environment.

Eligibility Requirements

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,000.00 and $156,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
