Job Description

The Industrial/Maintenance Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance activities and new installations within the manufacturing unit, with a specific focus on both new and existing equipment. This role ensures that all equipment is maintained in optimal working condition to support production goals, enhance equipment reliability, and ensure workplace safety. The leader will coordinate with various departments to implement maintenance strategies, manage maintenance schedules, and lead a team of maintenance professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies, plans, and procedures for both new and existing equipment to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular assessments of equipment condition and identify opportunities for improvement.

New Equipment Integration:

  • Lead the integration of new equipment into the manufacturing process, including installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans tailored to new equipment, ensuring they are effectively incorporated into existing maintenance schedules.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance professionals, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety within the maintenance team.

Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:

  • Establish and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for both new and existing equipment to enhance equipment lifespan and performance.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance activities and asset performance.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

Coordination with Production:

  • Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks and address any production-related issues promptly.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for the maintenance team.

Performance Metrics:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance activities, such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Report on maintenance performance to senior management and recommend improvements.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Liaise with equipment vendors and suppliers for new equipment warranties, service agreements, and technical support.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with all stakeholders involved in equipment maintenance and upgrades.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: proven experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment, with experience in managing both new and existing equipment.

Skills:

  • Fluency in English and Italian in writing and speaking.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in using CMMS and other maintenance-related software.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar certification is a plus.
