Job Description Summary
As the Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting suppliers across the globe, including both supplier capability and quality responsibilities. This will include parts qualification, supplier capability and quality (assurance & control) responsibilities across supplier development, and monitoring activities. You will be responsible for the Supplier Management activities within the NAM Region which will include managing suppliers globally based on the equipment being supplied. Overarching responsibilities include: supplier quality management, engineering quality assurance, non-conformance and corrective / preventative action planning, quality audits and compliance, continuous improvement & lessons learned, as well as documentation management.

Roles and Responsibilities
- The position holder is responsible for both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development, including Part qualifications, non-conformity management, action plans, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors.
- The person will use prior experience and acquired expertise to execute functional policy/strategy as required. He/She will also use technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- Lead the development & execution of short and mid-term Supplier Management strategies and performance that support a competitive advantage in partnership with Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing Quality and Construction.
- Responsible for execution of QMS and Compliance requirements associated with Supplier Quality Management. This includes supplier QMS, Process, Capability, Non-conformities and development plans.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with: Client specifications and U.S. standards (IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NEC)
- Plan and conduct: Internal process & project quality audits; Supplier audits, Site audits
- Ensure compliance with: ISO 9001, Client-specific quality requirements, and Regulatory requirements in the U.S.
- Support design reviews with a focus on: Constructability, Quality risks, risk mitigation, Lessons learned integration as well as verify proper document control and traceability
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of: Quality dossiers, Test reports, and Inspection records
- Responsible for push supplier improvements within RCA (Root Cause Analysis), drive process or product qualification, manage the SDR (Supplier Deviation Request) Process, registering, monitoring and managing CoPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) Recovery.
- Support improvement in Supplier Management processes through digitization and simplification including management / employee communication, policy recommendations and bowler dashboards.
- Responsible for key Supplier Management metrics such as quality performance - first time right, First Pass Yield, RCA Completion - timeliness, aging, CAPA, CoPQ, Supplier Cost Recovery
- Support supplier qualification and evaluation processes
- Review and approve supplier quality documentation: such as Manufacturing Quality Plans (MQPs), and ITPs and procedures
- Coordinate and/or perform: Factory inspections, FAT witness activities for key equipment (transformers, breakers, GIS, protection systems), and Manage supplier non-conformances and corrective actions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Electrical Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering or equivalent Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 5-10+ years experience in quality management or supplier quality or engineering within High-voltage substations or transmission & distribution projects
- Experience in EPC or large infrastructure projects in the U.S.
- Strong exposure to FAT/SAT and Field construction quality
- Familiar with applicable standards: IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NEMA
- Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English. Other languages is a plus.
- Excellent leadership skills demonstrating cross-functional teamwork and understand factors impacting the businesses and our suppliers.
- Influence/communication - establishes good relationships; drives continuous improvement across functional & global boundaries.
- In-depth understanding of quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and equipment procurement requirements
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 90% of time.
- Tools : Dashboards, NCR/CAPA systems, Inspection and test planning, Root cause analysis tools
- Proven experience in Supplier Quality Management, including planning and performing audits. Certified Auditor is preferred.
- Travel Requirements up to 90%
- Experience in managing non-conformities and implementing corrective actions.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficient in maintaining and managing quality documentation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in budget management and cost control related to supplier quality activities.
- Ability to provide training and guidance on quality requirements.

Desired Characteristics
- Experience in Supplier Quality and/or Quality activities with expertise across technical areas, program management, compliance/general product quality areas and process knowledge aligned with engineered equipment industry.
- Proven leadership in driving results and process improvements, including strong Change Acceleration Process skills.
- Quality experience with a focus on customer experience as the number 1 driver.
- Strong Lean experience and continuous improvement mindset, simplifying processes and removing waste.
- ASQ or PMI Certifications are a plus (Project Management, Supplier Professional, Quality Manager, Quality Engineer)

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $94,600.00 and $157,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
