The Global Immigration Leader will be responsible for ensuring we provide a frictionless employee experience in a complex landscape whilst providing strategic business direction, through technology and reporting to deliver strong operational performance and robust governance and controls.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead global immigration strategy aligned with business priorities, workforce planning, talent mobility needs, and enterprise risk management.
- Serve as the senior subject matter expert on global immigration matters, advising executive leadership, HR, legal, and business stakeholders on immigration-related risks, opportunities, and compliance requirements.
- Provide clear cost of M&I services across GE Vernova and strategies to optimize cost and reduce risk
- Build defensive audits processes to reduce risk
- Provide proactive data and landscape of GE Vernova workforce aligned to risks, costs, geopolitical impacts
- Design, implement, and govern scalable immigration programs, policies, and processes that support international hiring, cross-border moves, assignments, and business traveler compliance.
- Oversee immigration compliance across jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to country-specific laws, regulations, documentation requirements, and audit standards.
- Mitigate organizational risk by proactively monitoring regulatory changes, assessing business impact, and recommending responsive actions and policy updates.
- Partner cross-functionally with Talent Acquisition, HR, Legal, Tax, Payroll, Security, and business leaders to deliver coordinated immigration support and seamless employee experience.
- Direct vendor and counsel relationships, including outside immigration law firms and service providers, to ensure quality, consistency, cost control, and service-level performance.
- Leverage vendor services and ensure the operational model is the most effective, productive and optimizes cost
- Leverage technology and AI to support the optimal organisation structure and employee experience across the Mobility and Immigration organization
- Establish governance frameworks and controls for case management, document retention, escalations, exception handling, and reporting.
- Develop metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting on immigration case volumes, trends, risks, costs, processing timelines, and program performance.
- Drive operational excellence and process improvement through standardization, technology solutions, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support strategic talent initiatives by enabling compliant international recruitment, retention of key talent, and deployment of employees across global markets.
- Lead complex escalations and sensitive cases, balancing legal requirements, business urgency, employee experience, and reputational considerations.
- Provide training and guidance to HR teams, managers, and key stakeholders on immigration policies, processes, roles, and compliance expectations.
- Manage program budgets and forecast immigration-related costs while identifying efficiencies and ensuring appropriate resource allocation.
- Build and lead a high-performing team where applicable, setting priorities, developing capabilities, and fostering accountability and service excellence.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, Legal Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
- Significant years of progressive experience in global immigration, mobility, HR compliance, or a related area.
- Demonstrated years of leadership experience managing immigration programs, teams, vendors, or external counsel.
- Demonstrated experience across all services within Mobility and Immigration landscape globally
- Fluency in English
Desired Characteristics:
- Effective interpersonal skills; proven ability to develop and maintain team and client relationships, both in immediate and remote contexts
- Understanding of Immigration and case technology to support innovation with a strong AIQ
- External and Government understanding
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to assess situations make judgments based on practice or previous experience
- Experienced in establishing and managing metrics, controls and KPIs
- Experienced in successfully delivering projects in a complex matrix environment
- Capability of managing a multi-layered stakeholder landscape including strong change management skills
- Strategic thinking / business acumen, including ability to conceptualize new initiatives
- Strong presentation skills and facilitation experience, needed to effectively deliver a variety of HR-related training programs to groups of managers/colleagues
- Developed (oral and written) communication and diplomacy skill set with the ability to influence others by presenting sound and logical arguments tailored to the audience
- Willingness to interact with other peers across the region

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $206,295.00 and $275,060.00 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: 15% annual bonus potential.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $141,900.00 and $236,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
