Job Description Summary

The purpose of this role is to improve standard work application across engineering and project execution, including Gate Reviews, Risk Assessment, Engineering Change Management, and lessons learned. The role supports reduction of Cost of Poor Quality and non-conformity resolution time by strengthening quality assurance practices at the front end of product and project delivery- focusing to reducing defects reaching Regions and Customers, with a specific focus on the FACTS Solution Line (SL).

Key responsibilities are the assurance of a complete follow-through of verification and validation aspects according ISO9001 and SL standards in all projects defined by SL. Acting as an ambassador for quality, influencing, supporting, contributing, mentoring and gate keeping Engineering related New Product Introduction (NPI) & Order to Remittance (OTR) to assure compliance with development and related processes, as well as an effective implementation of corrective and preventive improvements for reducing cost exposure and cost of poor quality considering the whole project value chain.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure Key Market requirements, "Return of Experience (RoEs)" are being addressed i "New Product Introduction (NPI)". Support / Facilitate Risk assessment study using "Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA)" during NPI stage.
  • Ensure project requirements are fully studied before "Order to Remittance (OTR)" handover. "Risks & Opportunities" are clearly noted, and Risk mitigation plan is worked upon.
  • Participate actively in design, technical, system, and gate reviews, ensuring relevant engineering and quality processes are properly followed and required deliverables are completed on time.
  • Assure that verification and validation requirements are clearly defined, tracked, and completed in line with ISO 9001 and internal standards.
  • Review and promote proper application of Engineering Change Management and Management of Change processes, ensuring that engineering documentation, change requests, approvals, and implementation records are complete and controlled.
  • Monitor engineering quality performance through project reviews and KPI follow-up, helping teams identify gaps, prioritize actions, and support recovery planning when performance is off track.
  • Lead or support reviews of non-conformities, customer complaints, and recurring defects with focus on timely containment, root cause identification, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
  • Coach teams in structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, PSR, and other continuous improvement tools for medium- to high-complexity issues.
  • Drive lessons learned (LL) capture, validation, and implementation, ensuring updates are translated into improved design guidelines, checklists, templates, and standard processes.
  • Lead and conduct process and product audits related to engineering, product development, and project execution; support preparation for external audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, product management, industrialization, sourcing, and regional teams to resolve issues and strengthen quality culture across interfaces. Guide, train, coach, and support teams on "Quality Tools & Processes".
  • Influence adoption of quality assurance principles and promote a preventive mindset within the FACTS engineering community.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and Lean-based actions, to improve process effectiveness, compliance, and delivery quality.
  • Support knowledge sharing, coaching, and mentoring across teams to build quality capability and consistent application of best practices.
  • Act as a functional quality partner to project and product teams, balancing compliance, execution needs, and customer focus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Engineering or Science, from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Quality, Engineering Quality, or Quality Assurance within an industrial, engineering, or project-based environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with projects or programs involving risk management, change management, non-conformity resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a global, multicultural, and matrix organization.
  • Familiarity with engineering development and project execution environments, preferably in power transmission, grid solutions, or related industries.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, especially ISO 9001.
  • Experience in Grid Solutions, Transmission & Distribution, or power systems, with preference for FACTS or closely related technologies.
  • Application of APQP, PPAP and other AIAG Quality tools.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to make data-based decisions.
  • Ability to influence teams and leadership through constructive dialogue, even without direct authority.
  • Self-driven and well organized, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain, convince, motivate, and inspire others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in process audits, product audits, and audit follow-up.
  • Lean and Six Sigma knowledge or certification is an advantage.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills. Portuguese and Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as needed.
  • Passion for quality, continuous improvement, and building robust processes that improve customer outcomes.

The base pay range for this position is $82,000.00 - 136,700.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
