Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support in migration of FDI2.0, Update configurations, interfaces, and documentation under guidance
- Develop FDI3.0 architecture for alarm handling after power los
- Prototype and evaluate approaches for alarm persistence, recovery logic, data integrity, and state restoration
- Document architecture decisions and trade-offs and update the design memo to reflect proposed FDI3.0 architecture
- Support FDI3.0 rollout across subsystems and Run quality checks in simulation using SIL/HIL platforms
- Create validation status report, Ensure traceability from requirements to tests and results
Qualifications/Requirements
- Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field/ experience
- Solid fundamentals in one or more: embedded/controls systems, software engineering, or systems engineering
- Experience with at least one: Python, C/C++, or MATLAB/Simulink
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Active student status is mandatory
- Work style: full time presence in Barcelona office is required
- English knowledge with working efficiency is essential
- Spanish not mandatory but advantage
- If contracted in Spain: Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this
Desired Characteristics
- Coursework/project experience in alarm management, resilience/recovery, or state machines or similar
- Experience with PLC programing, simulation or HIL validation platforms
- Exposure to power/energy systems or industrial controls is a plus
Outcomes -Intern will gain:
- Hands-on impact on a platform transition (FDI2.0 to FDI3.0) with real deliverables in architecture, validation, and rollout
- Mentorship from engineers across systems, controls, and QA
- Exposure to industrial-grade development and validation practices
- Experience on tools and softwares like Matlab, Python, Basic knowledge of sensor integration with the software and associated challenges
