Job Description Summary

As an Engineer - Accessories you are responsible for contributing to the design, development, integration, and improvement of products, solutions, and systems, with a focus on both technical performance and customer/business requirements. The role includes analysis of steam and water systems and component requirements, development of alternative design concepts, participation in design trade studies, selection and implementation of optimal solutions, and verification that the final design is properly integrated and meets applicable standards.

Supports departmental operations and planning/execution of engineering activities within a defined technical discipline. Works with some autonomy, guided by established policies, standards, and review of outcomes, with the ability to adapt procedures and practices as long as required quality, schedule, and performance targets are met.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the design and layout of all auxiliary components and systems for our main steam and water products, such as piping, pipe supports, and valves (stop, control, safety).
  • Performs technical analysis of auxiliary systems. Key steam and water systems include: gland steam, drains, water injection, exhaust pipelines, main and secondary steam pipelines, and condensate systems.
  • Broadens knowledge of own technical discipline to support policy/strategy execution. May include support roles in specialized fields; currently acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
  • Applies basic understanding of key business drivers to accomplish own work. Understands how the team's output integrates with other functions and contributes to the overall project area.
  • Operates with defined autonomy to make decisions within a set framework. Resolves issues requiring sound technical judgment within established procedures; consults with more senior team members for matters outside of defined parameters.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills; may be expected to lead a junior team. In customer-facing roles, develops strong relationships and acts as the primary interface between the customer and GE. Clearly explains complex technical information to stakeholders.
  • Prepares purchase specifications and provides technical coordination and supervision of suppliers.
  • Prepares detailed documentation for auxiliary systems.

Required Characteristics

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the Power Industry, with a strong focus on cooperation within global teams.
  • Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art thermodynamics.
  • Proficiency in engineering software, e.g., AutoCAD, Catia, PDMS/E3D.
  • Hands-on site experience (providing field support for layout and piping drawings).
  • General knowledge of power plant EPC business practices.
  • Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel / Have valid driving license
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Polish / German or other foreign languages would be an additional asset.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to assess situations, make judgments based on practice or previous experience
  • Knowledge of power plant processes and systems.
  • Able to cooperate effectively within global engineering/project execution organization and external partners.
  • Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Approach focused more on solutions finding than creating problems.
  • Passion for innovative solutions, cost-out actions and process improvement
