Job Description Summary

As Product Lifecycle Engineer, you will report to the Valve Design Team Leader within the Valve Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic and rapidly growing team of engineers working on the project activities related to HVDC applications. This is a very exciting and dynamic field of power engineering in which GE's leading contribution has worldwide recognition.

The Role will focus on material data and Bill of Material (BoM) management within our ERP (SAP) system, amongst other responsibilities. The Product Lifecycle Engineer will be the interface between the engineering output and the sourcing / procurement / Quality / Commercial functions, ensuring effective and accurate conversion of information.

As part of the role, the candidate will be required to effectively manage SAP Material Masters and BoM product configurations to enable release of materials to meet product / project procurement deadlines. The successful candidate will lead different cross-functional meetings through the project life cycle, interacting with the different stakeholders within the business unit, such as Sourcing, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operation, Commercial, Engineering.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product lifecycle scope.
  • Lead MoD review meeting.
  • Deliver costing of the valve product at tender stage.
  • Lead the Cost to Completion during project phase.
  • Create STD material masters - (Data obtained from Engineering) and advise on Material Structure.
  • Create contract specific material data.
  • Input data from project plan - (Obtain from Ops, delivery dates and conditions).
  • Create and maintain Purchase Requisitions for Valve Structure PP10 procurement - (Project Builder).
  • Create and maintain EASY Purchase Requisitions / IST interface.
  • Ongoing maintenance of Material Masters and Project Module.
  • Review procedures and practices.
  • Process improvement identification and implementation.
  • Create and Maintain Project specific SAP BOM.
  • Maintain specific KPI's for the Project team.
  • Prepare Training Material as required.
  • Training of Key Users.
  • Ongoing Development of new methods which will Automate and reduce the lead-time between engineering definition through to the procurement process.
  • Supporting Key User with daily Trouble Shooting.
  • Running of SAP reports as required to support business functionality.

Candidate profile

Candidates should have proven experience using Master Data and/or Procurement functions within SAP to manage operations and a significant exposure to Valve product within HVDC.

It is key that the candidate has the ability to work quickly and efficiently within an engineering team.

An enquiring mind and desire to learn new skills, and engineering products such as HVDC.

A key drive for improvement, driving standards and working methods into forward to enhance our business effectiveness.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Knowledge of SAP software.

Required Characteristics:

  • Competence in SAP
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Competence in valve product definition
  • Sound practical experience with industrial systems
  • Fluency in English
  • EHS compliance ability
  • Strong communication skills
  • Focus on Continuous improvement
  • Experience in Power Electronics industry
  • Ability to coordinate and lead a small group of engineers
  • Good at sharing knowledge and experience
