Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user's needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job Description

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and support electrical system solutions for High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects.
  • Develop main scheme design documentation, including single line diagrams for HVDC converter systems.
  • Perform engineering studies and deliver technical reports in the following areas:
    • power system design
    • insulation coordination
    • station losses calculation
    • high-voltage equipment application
  • Prepare technical specifications for high-voltage equipment, including transformers, switchgear, measurement devices, power reactors, and surge arresters.
  • Support and witness factory testing of high-voltage equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance within areas of expertise.
  • Interface with customers on technical topics and support project discussions.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering tools, design guides, and standard processes.
  • Support the development of new HVDC technologies, study methods, and system analysis tools.
  • Represent the company in external technical activities such as industry working groups, conferences, and technical publications.
  • Follow company policies, code of conduct, and environmental, health, and safety requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated and strong experience in industrial engineering, preferably in power systems or high-voltage applications.
  • Knowledge of HVDC systems, power system studies, and high-voltage equipment.
  • Experience with single line diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Python.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Power Systems Engineering.
  • Experience in insulation coordination studies and station loss calculations.
  • Experience witnessing equipment testing or supporting factory acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with international industry standards and technical bodies such as IEC, IEEE, or CIGRE.
  • Experience contributing to engineering tools, process improvement, or design standardization.

WORK AUTHORIZATION

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the country where the role is based.
  • The company will assess work authorization and visa sponsorship availability based on local business and legal requirements.
