Electrical and Electronics Cost Out Engineer
Job Description Summary
We are looking for a highly analytical and technically proficient Cost out Engineer with a strong foundation in electrical and electronics engineering and manufacturing processes. This role is critical in supporting design-to-cost initiatives by working closely with product engineering teams to influence cost-effective design decisions early in the development cycle. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of electrical and electronics components such as transformers, reactors, breakers, switches, and electronic modules, and will be responsible for cost improvement, design analysis and building accurate cost models.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly analytical and technically proficient Cost out Engineer with a strong foundation in electrical and electronics engineering and manufacturing processes. This role is critical in supporting design-to-cost initiatives by working closely with product engineering teams to influence cost-effective design decisions early in the development cycle. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of electrical and electronics components such as transformers, reactors, breakers, switches, and electronic modules, and will be responsible for cost improvement, design analysis and building accurate cost models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to understand design intent and cost drivers.
- Activities related to the principles of Electrical engineering, Design Calculations, analysis, manufacturing
- Knowledge and experience of finite element analysis - Simulation tools deals magnetics, Short circuit study and Arc Flash Analysis
- Prepare reports and documentation required for project delivery.
- Specifications of key components such as Inductor, Transformer, Capacitors, Busbar laminates, cooling systems and translate design intent to stakeholders
- Develop detailed cost models for electrical and electronics components including:
- Transformers
- Reactors
- Breakers
- Switches
- Electronic modules
- Maintain cost benchmarks and databases for various manufacturing processes and materials.
- Engage with sourcing and procurement teams to validate supplier quotes and support cost negotiations.
- Participate in supplier discussions to ensure transparency and alignment on cost structures.
- Prepare and present cost analysis reports to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Maintain BOM cost records: Track and report product cost changes due to Commodity price movements, Supplier cost updates, Engineering design changes
- Collaborate with Sourcing and Engineering to track cost-out ideas and savings realization. Identify and report delays, risks, or gaps against cost targets
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, with 8+ years in related field.
- Experience in ETAP & MATLAB Simulink, PLECS etc
- Proficient with 3D CAD tools, preferably Creo and Windchill PDMlink
- ANSYS Electonic desktop Windchill PLM,FEA, EPlan
- Knowledge in manufacturing process
- Worked on Product design using low voltage electrical switchgears / Medium voltage electrical switch gears / Transformer.
- Aware of mechanical design to external standards (e.g. BSI, ISO, IEC, EN...).
- Familiar with detail manufacturing drawings and drawings templates.
- Aware of EHS compliance in design and engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
