Within the Grid Automation (GA) Business Line of GE Vernova, you will be leading the sales team in Central Europe covering teams in DACH, Eastern Europe and CIS countries to support our customers in their Energy Transition by Digitalising Grids, Electrifying Industry and facilitating Renewable Energy Sources Grid Integration.
This is a customer facing and staff responsible role subject to Commercial policy objectives including area sales managers (ASM) and technical application engineers (TAE). The role has independence in achieving commercial objectives within operating budgets and operating guidelines within the cluster. There is moderate autonomy within the role to enter into/execute Commercial arrangements. High levels of Commercial judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

The Role reports directly to the GA Central Europe ITO Leader.
Main Responsibilities:
- Sells the full Grid Automation portfolio (GA) of product(s), services, spare, parts, solutions, or projects in the cluster.
- Defines the business plan in South Europe for the different GA sub-PLs to deliver the expected growth.
- Develops the strategy for the local markets focusing on DACH countries in deep coordination with the GA Local Sales teams and CEU P&L Leader and the European Commercial & Strategy Leader.
- Manages the forecast in the CRP (SalesForce.Com) and delivers on the order intake and margin targets as per the plan.
- Manages the GA Sales Managers and Sales Specialists in the cluster within the frame of strategy, business plan, operating plan and policies defined at Grid Automation level for the Region.
- Defines the go to market strategy and negotiates sales agreements.
- Support the P&L leader in transforming the sales teams into a more software and services sales related organization identifying digitization needs of our customers in DSO/TSO and industry businesses.
- Support the tender managers in formulating deal structure, assessing the technical and commercial risks, defining the pricing, and developing the proposal.
- Leads the deal reviews when needed prior to offer submission.
- Drives the customer negotiations.
- Identifies new opportunities with functional partners to develop new products and services for business growth.
- Requires specialized knowledge across product lines, markets, sales processes, or customer groups.
- Requires strong commercial awareness and is expected to influence the development of strategy for their broad sales territory, including control of resources.
- Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
- Stays informed of industry trends.
- Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders or customers.
- Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Directly manages a medium team of lead & senior professionals.
- Lead functional teams or projects.
- Communicates difficult concepts and may guide others to consider a different point of view.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor/master degree from an accredited university or college
- Fluent in German and English, other languages are a plus
- Knowledge of the disciplines and extensive experience in the Grid Automation industry (P&C products and services) and additionally in software selling services (Digital Substation, Asset Performance Management (APM) tools via cloud/SaaS, cyber security, distribution automation and substation monitoring)
- Previous experience in the sales function in energy business, commercial customer knowledge and established relationships
- Knowledge of pricing, costs and product accounting, analytical skills
- Experience in carrying out market assessments and subsequently developing and implementing relevant commercial strategies that facilitate market penetration.
- Ability to understand and improve processes in a cross-functional environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
