Job Description Summary

The Customer Quality Engineer - Manufacturing is responsible for investigating nonconformance reports (NCRs), leading root cause analysis, supporting containment and disposition of nonconforming material, validating new equipment and process changes, and assisting with internal and external ISO audits. This role is primarily manufacturing-focused and works on the plant floor with operations, quality, engineering, and suppliers to resolve issues quickly, drive corrective actions, and maintain compliance with quality system requirements.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate NCRs to determine defect cause, scope, and required corrective action
  • Lead or support root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methods
  • Work directly with plant personnel to contain, control, and disposition nonconforming material
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure suspect material is properly identified, contained, and resolved
  • Validate new equipment, tooling, and process changes to confirm they meet quality and performance requirements
  • Review validation results and document readiness for production release
  • Support internal ISO audits by preparing records, participating in audits, and addressing findings
  • Support external ISO audits by providing evidence, answering auditor questions, and helping close findings
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, recurring defects, and improvement opportunities
  • Communicate findings, actions, and open issues to plant leadership and cross-functional teams
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce defects, scrap, and repeat nonconformances
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, ISO requirements, and applicable customer standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality engineering, or a related production environment
  • Experience reviewing NCRs and leading or supporting root cause analysis
  • Experience supporting containment and disposition of nonconforming material
  • Experience working directly with plant operations to resolve quality issues
  • Familiarity with ISO quality systems and audit support
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and quality reporting tools
  • Ability to work on the manufacturing floor and respond to urgent quality issues

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with supplier quality issues and incoming material disposition
  • Experience validating new equipment, tooling, or process changes
  • Experience with corrective action systems such as 8D, CAPA, or RCCA
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools
  • Experience supporting both internal and external audits
  • Knowledge of GD&T or dimensional inspection concepts
  • Experience with ERP, QMS, or manufacturing quality systems

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and spend significant time on the plant floor
  • Ability to interact with production, inspection, engineering, and supplier contacts
  • Ability to support audits, validation activities, and occasional off-shift needs depending on plant demands

Relocation Assistance Provided: No

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $81,700.00 and $136,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
