Job Description Summary

The Controls Sensing & Platform Leader is responsible for leading the team that defines, integrates, and advances the control platforms, sensing capabilities, and system interfaces used across GE wind turbines and wind farms. This role owns the team's delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable controls platform solutions that improve product capability and help lower the cost of renewable energy.

This leader drives execution across controls platform development, system integration, requirements flow-down, lifecycle cost optimization, technical risk management, and validation planning. Working across engineering, program management, product line, and other cross-functional teams, the role ensures control system updates are aligned to product strategy, industry trends, customer needs, and operational goals. The position requires strong technical depth, people leadership, and sound judgment to guide a team delivering critical controls technology across the product lifecycle.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team responsible for controls platforms, sensing technologies, and system integration for GE wind turbines and wind farm applications.
  • Own team execution for control platform quality, capability, and lifecycle cost, ensuring solutions are technically robust, competitive, and aligned with product and business goals.
  • Guide the team in defining, developing, integrating, and improving control system technologies, including control logic, embedded controls, sensing, hardware/software interfaces, communication architectures, and platform-level functionality.
  • Partner with program management, product line, and engineering teams to translate product needs into high-level control system requirements and ensure effective flow-down to responsible engineers and technical teams.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across multidisciplinary development programs, ensuring system requirements are incorporated into controller, electrical, automation, and integrated product designs.
  • Drive assessment of renewable energy industry needs, customer requirements, and technology trends to inform controls platform strategy, product roadmaps, and multi-generation technology plans.
  • Oversee technical risk identification, prioritization, and mitigation planning to support successful program execution and product delivery.
  • Ensure the team evaluates lifecycle cost, capability, operability, and performance tradeoffs so that control system updates deliver required outcomes at competitive cost.
  • Provide leadership in system integration topics including controller platform interfaces, embedded controls, real-time systems, communications protocols, data acquisition, remote monitoring, SCADA, and related automation technologies.
  • Establish expectations for strong systems engineering discipline, including requirements definition, design reviews, verification planning, test strategy, and design improvement through structured feedback and lessons learned.
  • Support technical and program reviews as a leader, presenter, or reviewer, and ensure clear communication of key technical issues, decisions, risks, and development progress to stakeholders.
  • Build team capability through coaching, talent development, prioritization, and resource planning while fostering a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Controls Engineering preferred
  • At least 8 years of experience in engineering, technology, or controls engineering
  • At least 8 years of experience working in cross-functional engineering environments with responsibility for technical execution, problem solving, and delivery

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
