Controls Product Standards and Methods Lead Engineer
CO Salary Range: USD 108,200.00 - 180,400.00 per year
Job Description Summary
This position in Services Projects for Gas Power Controls Engineering is part of our Product Standards and Methods design engineering team and the successful candidate will participate in engineering and designing mechanical and packaged systems for interface to existing nuclear steam, conventional steam, hydro, and gas turbine equipment, existing generator equipment, and balance of plant equipment as part of overall controls conversions, modifications, and upgrades. You will focus on developing and sustaining standardized products and providing appropriate technical support to global project engineers.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the development and sustainment of turbine and plant control system hardware in coordination with controls application software engineers to meet specifications defined by product line leadership
- Engineer and design digital electronic control cabinets and mechanical control systems components
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to produce high-quality and cost-effective mechanical and packaged systems designs using 3-dimensional solid modeling and 2-dimensional computer aided design (CAD) software
- Creation and maintenance of material masters and bills of material in the business information systems (PLM)
- Support and influence new products and product sustaining requirements definition
- Ensure adequate system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability and safety requirements through design reviews
- Enforce the application of controls design standards and practices
- Provide customer support related to assigned projects and areas of expertise
- Support the commercial teams for technical inputs needed to generate customer proposals
- Develop product engineering documentation suitable to meet customer and internal functional requirements for use by the global project engineering team
- Develop instructions for product installation and commissioning for field services
- Provide technical sales support for generation of customer proposals
- Develop product test specification procedures and technical manuals
- Ensure compliance with internal and industry technical regulations, standards, and other regulatory requirements
- Frequent interaction with customers and suppliers required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in related engineering fields
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
- Proven strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
Desired Characteristics
- Master's degree in engineering
- Engineering experience in nuclear and/or conventional steam, hydro, or gas turbine auxiliary equipment and applications
- Ability to review contract documentation and customer specifications, and have experience creating equipment specifications and detailed design documentation for the development of appropriate mechanical and packaged systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems design
- Proficiency in the following additional software applications / platforms: MATLAB, Visual Basic, MS Excel Macros, MS Access, MS Visio, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Teams)
- Direct extended experience upgrading GE Vernova Mark VIe controls experience
- Experience developing engineering process documentation and providing training to engineers on processes and tools
- Experience with Autodesk Vault PDM software, Autodesk Inventor Solid Modeling CAD software, and AutoCAD Electrical and Mechanical two dimensional design software packages
- Experience providing technical mentoring and oversight to less experienced engineers
- Experience in power generation project, working with customers, project management or EPCs
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated System Level thinking
- Experience in a matrix structure organization, working cross-functionally

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $108,200.00 and $180,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
