Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Contracts Manager to join our Contracts Management team supporting hydroelectric projects in Pakistan. The role reports to the Asia & EMEA Region Contracts Management Leader and works in close partnership with Project Directors, Project Managers, and functional teams across the full project lifecycle.

Contract Management at GE Vernova is fully integrated with Project Management processes and principles for the execution of project contracts. Senior Contracts Managers are non-legal commercial experts who support all phases of the project including contract negotiations, commercial issue management, customer and supplier relationships, claims, disputes, and insurance.

This role leads contract strategy and execution across key hydroelectric projects in Pakistan, combining commercial insight, negotiation expertise, and project leadership to shape agreements that directly impact the success and sustainability of GE Vernova's clean energy projects in the region.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Contract Management

  • Partner with the Project Director/Manager in developing, communicating, and implementing proactive risk mitigation plans and identifying margin improvement opportunities.
  • Propose, draft, and negotiate necessary contract provisions, amendments, and claims that are most appropriate for the project structure and adequately address commercial and contractual risks to GE Vernova.
  • Ensure contracts, amendments, and claims are correctly drawn up and accurately reflective of agreements reached.
  • Support project and contract negotiations as part of a broader team, providing necessary contract inputs, commercial arguments, and strategic recommendations.
  • Take initiative and act independently with sound judgment to manage all contractual events having a bearing on contract performance and GE Vernova's commercial position.

Risk & Claims Management

  • Anticipate and proactively identify contractual and commercial risks; develop and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce complex, well-substantiated Extension of Time (EoT) and cost claims, as well as any other contractual claims, to a robust standard capable of withstanding scrutiny by Legal and Technical experts.
  • Proactively and effectively manage all events having a bearing on the contract and GE Vernova's performance obligations.
  • Attend regular project risk and opportunity reviews; actively engage and support the project team in identifying and implementing risk mitigation and opportunity management plans.
  • Openly escalate issues with leadership to ensure awareness and candid discussion; demonstrate confidence in challenging senior leadership positions when necessary to ensure the best outcome for GE Vernova.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain close working partnerships with key stakeholders including customers, subcontractors, consortium partners, and regulatory bodies in Pakistan.
  • Lead and conduct high-level negotiations with customers and business partners, demonstrating confidence, credibility, and the ability to reach agreements in a multicultural environment.
  • Communicate goals proactively and engage with stakeholders to effectively manage technical and commercial negotiations with internal and external partners.
  • Interact effectively with senior management and peers at all levels within a matrixed organization, working horizontally across functions to deliver outcomes.
  • Assist Project Managers/Project Directors in addressing any non-compliant behaviors or practices on a project.
  • Act as a skilled influencer, capable of communicating complex contractual and commercial messages clearly to diverse audiences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or Law from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience in contract management, negotiation, and commercial management within the power and/or service industry, including construction site or factory exposure.
  • Demonstrated experience with EPC/Turnkey project contracts and internationally recognized frameworks such as FIDIC or equivalent.
  • Sound understanding of contract law and its practical application in project environments.
  • Proven experience working within Pakistan's legal, regulatory, and commercial framework.
  • Fluent in written and oral English.

  • Negotiates effectively in tough situations with both external and internal stakeholders; demonstrates confidence and maintains credibility with key decision-makers in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex commercial and contractual problems with pragmatism and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs and projects, acting as a senior member of the management team with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Strong and established Turnkey/EPC project management skills applicable to large-scale hydro or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to take initiative, act independently, and work effectively within a matrixed organization across functions and levels.
  • Problem-solving attitude combined with flexibility, resilience, and strong written and oral communication skills.
