Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the On-Site Commissioning Lead is responsible for coordinating and supervising all site commissioning activities under GE GSI scope of work determined by the Commissioning Manager / Coordinator for the specific project according with safety, quality, and technical requirements.
Working with the Commissioning Coordinator, the Commissioning Lead will be executing the commissioning plan with the on-site commissioning team, ensuring the team is following all the pre-determined processes and procedures for all safety, quality, and technical matters.
The Commissioning Lead will provide daily reports about the progress of site activities as well as logging into the technical tracker the dates of completion of each part of the scope. It's also under his/her responsibility to approve timesheets from the commissioning team not only to ensure a proper allocation of the hours among base scope, quality issues, or change orders, but also to ensure the hours logged and activities performed are according with the project budget to avoid margin degradation.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Preparation and planning phase:

  • Support the project execution team on commissioning matters.
  • Technical governance and customer relations on commissioning matters.
  • Plan and support pre-commissioning effort (instrumentation, documentation, etc.).
  • Support on the preparation of the commissioning execution package, including commissioning plan (schedule, scope, and budget), documentation package, and management tools (daily tracker and others).

Execution phase:

  • Ensure work is performed safely according with GE standards and local requirements.
  • Contribute to overall quality and excellence in execution of commissioning.
  • Coordinate on-site commissioning activities according with the commissioning plan.
  • Provide support to the site teams regarding the technical issues or challenges.
  • Keep good records about site activities, work performed, issues faced and how they were dealt with (non-conformity) to provide feedback to business and support it with information in case of claims.
  • Collaborate in resolving complex problems.
  • Ensure the project is being executed with quality and within the budget.
  • Submit daily reports on site activities.
  • Update the commissioning daily tracker.
  • Approve commissioning team's timesheets.
  • Constant communication with the project team to provide status updates and to support on addressing issues.
  • Collect and provide RoEs (Return of Experience) so the business can improve on potential gaps.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 5 years' experience (OR) a High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of field experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on substation commissioning
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies

Desired:

  • Proficiency in any data acquisition software considered an asset.
  • Electrical or mechanical installation experience considered an asset.
  • Technical skills in programming and testing of PLC's and Controls.
  • Testing of power distribution and delivery equipment to include Low/medium Voltage Switchgear, Relays and Transformers
  • Testing of power distribution and delivery equipment to include High Voltage Switchgear, Relays and Transformers
  • Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV (Low Voltage) and MV (Medium Voltage) circuit breakers (OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin and Schweitzer Relays).
  • Electrical or mechanical installation experience considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in any data acquisition software considered an asset.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,200.00 and $173,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: ineligible.
