Commercial Leader
Job Description Summary
The Commercial Leader, part of GE Vernova's Onshore Wind International (ONWI) team is responsible for leading cross-functional deal teams to develop competitive and compliant commercial offers as a precursor to negotiating and closing contracts for the supply, installation and service of GEV's wind turbines. This role owns the end-to-end commercial process, including shaping contractual positions, negotiating agreements, and securing successful contract awards in line with GE policies and risk frameworks. Working closely with Sales, Technical, Legal, Risk, Finance, Tax, and Project Management, the Commercial Leader ensures alignment across all stakeholders while driving a clear winning strategy.
At a senior level, the role requires the ability to manage complex, large-scale deals, anticipate and mitigate risks, influence senior leadership, and mentor junior team members, all while upholding the highest standards of integrity and compliance.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Act as Commercial Leader for ONWI, supporting the Commercial team and reporting to the Regional Commercial Director.
- Drive achievement of team KPIs, with a focus on orders, cash collection, and margin performance
- Lead the development and execution of the overall commercial strategy for each deal.
- Prepare, structure, and negotiate commercial offers, including terms and conditions and internal costing, while supporting the technical solution.
- Optimise deal value based on market conditions and competitive positioning.
- Mobilise and coordinate cross-functional teams (Legal, Commercial Finance, Risk, Engineering) to develop integrated commercial and technical proposals.
- Assess and present deal risk profiles, obtaining required internal approvals to proceed.
- Lead customer engagement on proposals, including drafting and negotiating commercial and technical terms.
- Ensure timely delivery of bids, managing cross-functional inputs to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
- Support delivery of commercial team metrics related to orders and margin outcomes.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to junior commercial team members and broader stakeholders with regards to Commercial Proposals.
- Drive continuous improvement in proposal development, enhancing quality, efficiency, and effectiveness across the regional and ONWI Commercial teams.
- Contribute toward strategy and offering to report the market demand and support Product Line to define the product and features creating value for the customers.
- Lead complex deal structures, including turnkey solutions, managing partner onboarding, qualification, and commercial risk-sharing strategy (e.g. consortium agreements).
- Independently review, mark up, and negotiate contracts, ensuring alignment with GE's risk status and commercial standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
- 10+ years of relevant commercial, sales, or contract negotiation experience
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience working with virtual project teams.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a collaborative working style.
- Confident presenting to executive stakeholders and customers.
- Comfortable engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Proven skills in process analysis, problem solving, and strategic thinking.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness.
- Ability to make sound decisions in the face of ambiguity or conflicting data.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel and work intensively during key negotiation periods.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Desired Characteristics:
- Strong interest in technology and renewable energy.
- Background in sales, contracts, or customer-facing roles within the renewable energy sector
- Experience negotiating high-value, complex contracts.
- Knowledge of wind turbine technology and project execution.
- Experience in tendering, sales, or roles requiring extensive customer interaction.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching capabilities, including across virtual teams.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.
