CAD Mechanical Design Engineering Manager
Job Description Summary
The CAD Mechanical Design Manager will support the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor(SMR) project for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH). Provide leadership to a diverse technical team of dedicated engineers and scientists responsible for creating solid models and drawings of nuclear buildings using 3D modeling software and developing 2D/3D layouts in support of New Nuclear Plant Projects. This position will apply knowledge of design, modeling and drawing practices and guide your team to solve design issues with the Engineering team.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
As the CAD Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, you will:
- Report to the Senior Engineering Manager - BWRX-300 Design Engineering
- Provide technical and managerial leadership for a diverse team being accountable for on-time delivery of design products within budget
- Lead a team of 3D Designers (internal and external) to ensure the nuclear building models, assemblies and layout using 3D modeling software are performed in accordance with procedures and/or perform 3D model interference resolution, space control and design studies as required.
- Coordinate drafting needs with engineering managers, project engineers and program managers. Ensure that the necessary design intent/requirements are captured and documented.
- Establish and maintain standards and procedures for generation of models and associated drawings
- Collaborate with configuration management to ensure proper data configuration control, managing CAD Software configuration
- Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the team's technical and leadership talent/depth
- Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders and stakeholders
- Interface with external partners, customers, and other applicable country specific regulatory agencies, as required on technical issues
- Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines
- Plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables
- Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities
- Protect the Intellectual Property rights of GVH
- Support GVH initiatives, process improvement and simplification
- Support GVH Nuclear Energy quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating Condition Reports, and responding to Corrective Actions.
- Ensure adherence to GVH's standards for nuclear safety and compliance
- Partner with business teams and present product/program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to senior leads across GVH

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM field (Mechanical preferred) from an accredited collage or university
- Minimum 10 years' related experience in the commercial nuclear industry
- 3 years of experience Leading or Managing an Engineering Team
Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites occasionally (10% to 20%).
For the US
- The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC but highly qualified remote candidates will be considered.
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.
For Canada
- For Canada GE Vernova will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
- This position will report onsite to the Markham office 2 days a week (Tuesday's and Thursday's).
Desired Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer - US, Canada
- Proven ability to be a liaison between organizations that are operating in separate geographic locations

- Experience with project management skillset (communication, risk, planning/scheduling, change management)
- EPC experience and knowledge; specifically, power plant
- Understanding of nuclear industry and technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $130,000 and $180,00 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
