Job Description
GE Renewable Energy is seeking a Procurement Specialist or Category Specialist to join the Hydropower North America (HNA) Construction & Commissioning Sourcing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the categories of items and services assigned to them for medium to complex materials and services in support of GE US Government hydropower projects and Commercial projects (USA and Canada). The successful candidate will have working knowledge of federal regulations (FAR/DFARS) and be the focal point for interface and communication between project team members and suppliers.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Implement volume discount strategies for specific categories.
- Lead Kick-Off meetings and related action plans
- Make sure supplier understand all technical requirements of the order
- Follow-up on Purchase Orders, gather regular status and updates from suppliers, maintain communication tools to project teams.
- Escalate blocking points (Supplier Deviations, etc.) with project and engineering
- Update Purchase Orders with technical document updates or Change Orders.
- Anticipate possible delays in delivery by understanding fabrication process, complexity, possible roadblocks.
- Support supplier in the use of our various tools: access, use, etc.
- Maintain supplier relationship even in challenging situations.

Required Qualification
- Technical, supply chain/logistics or administration degree (college or university)
- 3+ years of experience in a fabrication/manufacturing/sourcing environment
- Bilingual English & French
Desired Characteristics
- Understanding of site services, subcontracting and implementation of volume agreements. Demonstrated understanding of all phases of procurement and procurement execution.
- Demonstrated ability to place and manage a high volume of purchase order.
- This role requires basic experience in the Sourcing & Buying-Procurement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
- Good computer skills, multitasking and data accuracy
- Navigate a complex, matrix organization, internally and externally.
- Time and priorities management in a high volume, high stress environment.
