Job Description Summary

As a Buyer within the Steam Blade Center of Excellence (CoE), you will execute day-to-day procurement activities for steam blade components from internal or external suppliers, helping to ensure quality, cost, and delivery performance to support global business needs. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support purchasing operations, issue resolution, and continuous improvement of procurement processes

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Place and follow up on purchase orders (POs) for steam blade components with internal and external suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate order execution.
  • Support relationships with suppliers, acting as a key contact for PO execution, basic issue resolution, and routine communication.
  • Address supply issues, schedule changes, and exceptions, escalating to the Supply Manager or Sourcing as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to sourcing policies, quality standards, and contractual requirements in daily procurement activities.
  • Support supplier negotiations for pricing, lead time, and terms under guidance, in line with business objectives and cost initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Manager, Sourcing Manager, Demand Manager, and other stakeholders to align purchasing activities with supply allocation, capacity planning, and demand requirements.
  • Assist in supplier qualification and onboarding activities, working with quality and engineering functions as required.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate procurement documentation and reporting in ERP and related systems.
  • Provide data and support for supplier performance reviews and internal meetings as required.
  • Execute defined tasks to support cost reduction and process improvement initiatives under direction.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (preferred: Supply Chain, Engineering, Business)
  • Experience: Proven experience in procurement or supply chain planning, including direct experience working with internal and external suppliers.
  • Skills: SAP or similar ERP experience in a procurement environment.
  • Language: Fluent in English.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience buying engineered components or commodities in an industrial/manufacturing environment, preferably blades or similar parts.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail in order processing and follow-up.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to document and execute procurement activities clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities in an operational/procurement setting.
  • Experience working with Lean or continuous improvement initiatives is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and collaboratively within a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
