Job Description Summary
Aero Service Technologies Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior Materials Manager to join our team at the Port Klang (Selangor) facility. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for directing and optimizing material procurement, warehouse management, logistics, and supply chain operations in alignment with the company's Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) standards.
The Senior Material and Logistics Manager will serve as a People Leader, driving strategic initiatives, developing high-performing teams, and collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders. The role also requires managing the complexities of operating within a Free Customs Zone (Port Klang Free Zone - PKFZ) while ensuring full regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Material Procurement
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and components.
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract management, and sourcing strategies to secure favorable commercial and operational outcomes.
Advanced Logistics Management
- Oversee and optimize inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure efficient movement of materials, components, and finished goods.
- Implement advanced logistics solutions, systems, and technologies to enhance visibility, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Warehouse Management
- Lead all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, kitting, issuing, and dispatch of materials and components.
- Ensure warehouse layout, processes, and systems support safety, accuracy, traceability, and operational efficiency.
- Implement best practices in warehouse controls, cycle counting, material traceability, and inventory accuracy.
Inventory Optimization
- Design and execute inventory management strategies to balance service levels and working capital objectives.
- Leverage data analytics and demand forecasting to optimize inventory levels and reduce excess or obsolete stock.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead supplier performance reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
People Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the material, logistics, and warehouse teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support employee development and succession planning.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with production, planning, quality, engineering, and finance teams to align material and logistics activities with business and operational objectives.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve end-to-end supply chain performance.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Define, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement, logistics, warehouse, and inventory performance.
- Use data-driven insights to identify gaps, mitigate risks, and drive informed decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements using Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all material, warehouse, and logistics operations comply with company policies, safety regulations, and applicable industry standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact for material, logistics, and warehouse-related matters.
- Ensure clear, timely, and effective communication with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics partners, and regulatory authorities.
Free Customs Zone (PKFZ) Management
- Manage all material handling, warehouse, and logistics activities within the Free Customs Zone.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, optimize duty-free benefits, and coordinate with customs authorities and service providers as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CPL, or equivalent) is preferred. - Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in material management, logistics, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing or service environment.
- At least three (3) years of proven experience as a People Leader, managing and developing teams.
- Demonstrated experience in warehouse management and logistics operations.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
Desired Characteristics
- Previous experience in aeroderivative turbine operations or aerospace-related environments is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to design and implement effective material, warehouse, and logistics strategies at a senior level.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English.
