5S Improvement Project Lead Intern
Job Description Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to lead the Raise the Standard project, a facility-wide initiative focused on restoring floors and work areas to a higher level of 5S excellence. This role will drive improvements in workplace organization, cleanliness, standardization, and sustainment practices to strengthen operational efficiency, improve safety, and enhance overall facility appearance.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about continuous improvement, capable of engaging teams across the facility, and committed to building a sustainable culture of accountability and discipline.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current floor conditions and identify gaps in Sort, Set in Order, and Shine
- Re-establish and implement 5S standards across the facility
- Improve workplace organization to support safer and more efficient operations
- Develop and deploy visual controls to reinforce standards and improve visibility
- Create and document standard work for maintaining 5S conditions
- Establish accountability measures to support long-term adherence and ownership
- Partner with operations and support teams to drive engagement and sustainment
- Monitor progress, track improvements, and communicate results to stakeholders
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and disciplined execution
Project Goals
- Restore facility floors and work areas to a higher level of 5S performance
- Improve cleanliness, order, and visual management throughout the facility
- Close identified gaps in workplace organization and housekeeping standards
- Reinforce sustainment practices that prevent regression
- Elevate operational efficiency, workplace safety, and overall appearance
- Build long-term ownership and accountability around 5S practices
Qualifications
- Experience with 5S, Lean, or continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Ability to identify process gaps and implement practical solutions
- Experience creating visual management systems and standard work
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to influence teams and promote accountability
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on sustainment and follow-through
- working toward a bachelor's degree not required

The pay range for this position is $1,000-$2,000 USD weekly. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
