Role

As a Student Worker in VAT & Accounting, you will join our global Accounting Operations team and support indirect tax compliance and accounting processes. This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with experienced professionals and gain practical experience in VAT reporting, data analysis, and reconciliation within an international organization.

The position is 15-20 hours per week on average. Working hours are flexible and can typically be structured as 2 days of 6-7 hours or 3 days of approximately 5 hours to accommodate studies and exam periods.

We are aiming for start date 15th of April!

Responsibilities

You will support VAT compliance and accounting activities, including:

  • Assisting with preparation of VAT returns and related indirect tax reporting
  • Preparing and validating source data and work files supporting tax filings
  • Supporting EC Sales Lists, Intrastat, and International Trade in Services (DK-specific reporting)
  • Preparing internal and customs invoices related to cross-border movement of goods (EU and non-EU)
  • Collecting and validating supporting documentation for third parties
  • Reconciling data received from other departments and identifying inconsistencies (e.g., incorrect VAT numbers, missing data)
  • Conducting data analysis, including reviewing historical transactions and preparing summaries or pivot tables in Excel
  • Supporting tax accounting reports, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Providing ad hoc support on tax compliance matters
  • Contributing to process improvements, including the implementation of a new VAT compliance tool (KPMG)

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant Copenhagen University study program such as Tax, Accounting, Business Law, Economics, or Business Administration
  • Interest in VAT, tax compliance, and accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data and numbers
  • Good Excel skills
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Detail-oriented and takes pride in accuracy and thoroughness
  • Logical and able to recognize patterns and inconsistencies
  • Confident in raising questions if data appears irregular or incomplete
  • Comfortable working hands-on with data and compliance tasks
  • Experience working with databases or large datasets is an advantage but not required.
