Warranty Legislation Lead

Today Warren, MI

Description

The Role

The Warranty Legislation Lead is a 7th level role within the Dealer Service & Warranty Operations team responsible for leading strategic initiatives at the intersection of warranty legislation, public policy, and cost optimization. This role leverages analytical, legal/statutory interpretation, and project leadership skills to drive cost mitigation efforts for GM, enable exceptional customer experiences, and ensure compliance with evolving state and federal warranty regulations.

You will operate as a cross-functional project leader, partnering with engineering, quality, legal, public policy, finance, and dealer operations to interpret statutory requirements, design compliant solutions, and deliver measurable improvements in warranty reimbursement practices and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Legislative & Regulatory Leadership

  • Interpret, capture, and maintain state statutory warranty reimbursement requirements, including labor and parts provisions, in a structured and accessible manner for the business.
  • Support public policy efforts by mining and synthesizing statutory and warranty data for use when lobbying legislators and regulators.
  • Provide analytic and subject-matter support for warranty-related litigation and mediation, including data preparation and expert documentation for in-suit matters.
  • Ensure compliance and help control costs associated with evolving state and federal warranty and dealer legislation, balancing customer, dealer, and GM interests.
  • Partner with legal and policy teams to assess the impact of proposed or enacted legislation on warranty programs and recommend compliant, cost-effective responses.

  • Leverage knowledge of retail automotive fixed operations (Parts/Service/Body) to ensure solutions are practical for dealers and drive compliance with statutory requirements.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Automotive Management, Paralegal, Public Policy, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Service, Warranty, or Quality business, processes, or systems.

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge ( Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience with a major consulting firm or in a strategic advisory role.
