The Role

The Systems Configurator is an individual contributor role focused on configuring pre-existing enterprise software (specifically Workjam) to meet complex GM Manufacturing business requirements. Rather than writing custom code, this role centers on application and systems configuration, testing, and continuous improvement to ensure Workjam effectively supports shop-floor operations and broader manufacturing needs.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building and configuring enterprise applications, understands security and audience management, and is comfortable testing and automating workflows to enhance productivity across the organization. They collaborate closely with business partners, IT teams, and plant stakeholders to translate business processes into robust, scalable configurations.

This Systems Configurator position is critical to unlocking the full value of Workjam for GM Manufacturing, ensuring plant teams have the right tools, access, and workflows to operate efficiently and safely. By combining a strong understanding of business processes with hands-on configuration expertise, the Systems Configurator helps deliver scalable, reliable solutions that support GM's broader digital manufacturing strategy.

What You'll Do

Configuration & Implementation

  • Configure the Workjam platform to align with GM Manufacturing business process rules and operational requirements, ensuring the solution effectively enables GM's business.
  • Configure and maintain data-driven integrations from existing source systems (e.g., Workday) and other enterprise platforms, ensuring the application properly utilizes incoming data without requiring custom software development or coding.
  • Leverage existing master data, organization structures, and user attributes to drive application behavior and ensure they are correctly reflected in Workjam configurations.

Security, Access, and Audience Management

  • Configure and maintain security groups, roles, and permissions so users have the appropriate access, views, and capabilities within Workjam.
  • Ensure local manufacturing records (e.g., plant-level identifiers, lines, departments, shifts) are correctly utilized within the software to support accurate targeting and segmentation.
  • Partner with security and compliance stakeholders to align configurations with access control, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide post-implementation support, including monitoring system performance, validating configuration outcomes, and addressing defects or gaps identified by end users.

Upgrades, Enhancements, and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or support the planning and execution of software upgrades, ensuring that configurations remain compatible and that new features are evaluated and leveraged where beneficial.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, automate workflows, and improve user experience within Workjam, based on feedback from plants and stakeholders.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date configuration and process documentation, including design decisions, configuration standards, and runbooks.

Stakeholder Collaboration
