Sr. System Engineer - BSW Expert

This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Advance Technical Center in Shanghai, China full time.

The Role -

This role will act as BSW expert to support critical projects.

What You'll Do -

  • Lead the design, configuration, and optimization of AutoSAR basic software stacks across multiple ECUs.
  • Define and enforce platform software standards, interfaces, and best practices for suppliers and internal teams.
  • Drive reuse of platform components and configurations across vehicle programs and ECUs.
  • Analyze end-to-end system behavior (CPU load, memory usage, latency, bus utilization) and propose optimization strategies.
  • Identify root causes of system-level stability issues (deadlocks, timing violations, resource contention) and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to ensure that performance and stability targets are met for production programs.
  • Use CANoe, Vehicle Spy, Lauterbach and other debugging/profiling tools to investigate complex issues at ECU, network, and system level.
  • Build and maintain debugging and measurement methodologies that can be reused by the wider team.
  • Provide hands-on support during critical validation phases, including bench, HIL, and in-vehicle testing.
  • Act as the primary technical counterpart for suppliers on AutoSAR platform and low-level software topics.
  • Review supplier designs, code, and test strategies, and provide concrete improvement feedback.
  • Mentor internal engineers in AutoSAR, C/C++, and system-level analysis to raise the overall capability of the team.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant embedded/automotive software development experience.
  • 2+ years of ADAS project experience
  • Ensures a solid theoretical foundation in embedded systems, software engineering, and electronics.
  • Enables working independently on high-impact topics without detailed supervision.
  • Ensures understanding of ADAS-specific system behavior, safety considerations, and cross-domain interactions.
  • Expert-level AutoSAR knowledge, deep expertise is essential for configuration, integration, and optimization.
  • Enables effective technical reviews and guidance for suppliers' platform implementations.
  • Strong C/C++ skills.
  • Critical for reviewing and improving supplier-delivered code and for developing reference implementations and tools.
  • Familiarity with common automotive chips and peripherals, considering hardware constraints in software design and optimization (e.g., multi-core SoCs, timers, DMA, communication controllers).
  • Shortens debug cycles by understanding hardware-software interactions.
  • Proficiency with CANoe, Vehicle Spy, Lauterbach and other debugging tools, supports building robust debug and measurement frameworks that can be adopted across the team.
  • Necessary to handle system-level problems spanning multiple ECUs, dependencies, and suppliers.
  • System-level stability and performance optimization capability, the engineer must be able to think beyond a single module or ECU and optimize at the system level.
