Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Tonawanda on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Quality Assurance Engineer leads the implementation of global and local quality requirements at the plant. This role ensures compliance with internal and external audit standards, including GMS BIQ Calibration, and supports technical problem-solving using Red X and data analytics. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems, along with excellent interpersonal skills.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Coordinate implementation of quality procedures and systems.
- Represent the plant on GM North American Quality Requirements conference calls.
- Communicate emerging Global Quality Requirements (GQRs) and prepare for external audits.
- Facilitate GMS BIQ basketweave process including:
- Audit compliance reviews
- Corrective action reports
- SME training
- Upcoming changes and events
- Maintain knowledge of ISO and government regulatory requirements.
- Administer/support systems for:
- BIQ Quality Manual
- GMS Document Control
- Workplace Safety System Document Control
- Plant-wide SharePoint and shared drive databases
- Flexnet and ILM
- Assist Flexnet users (GSC, production, engineering, quality) with access, login issues, and upgrades.
- Upload updates to GMS document control for:
- Plantwide documents (work instructions, forms)
- Salary Standardized Work (STSs and TISs)
- Provide monthly and annual updates on WSS Document Control as WSS Champion.
- Coordinate ILM activities:
- Update Record Identification Matrix with Legal Holds
- Plan annual ILM event
- Represent plant on GM ILM conference calls
- Support quality improvement and scrap reduction initiatives using Red X (small sample sizes) and Data analytics (large data sets, pattern analysis).
- Assist quality engineers with production coverage.
- Attend SOS and EOS carryover meetings.
- Support containments, quality gates, quality alerts, and PTRs.
- Review and sign off on gage equipment non-conformance reports (GNCs).
- Assist GMS Core Team Members with document control and archiving.
- Update plant's OpEx performance by creating/uploading charters and supporting data.
- Improve Plant Quality System
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 1 or more years of equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- High integrity, self-directed, and able to work in ambiguous environments.
- Willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and be resourceful.
- Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with GMS, GM ISO, and BIQ audit processes.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies (Red X, DMAIC, Opex).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Minitab, QDAS QSTAT, QDAP).
Compensation:
- The expected base compensation for this role is: $73,700.00 - $113,100.00 USD Annual. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
