Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Saginaw, MI on a full-time basis.
The Role:
This manager will collaborate across all manufacturing disciplines to drive common and standardized manufacturing quality system requirements, procedures, metrics, and standard methodologies. In this role, you will get the chance to interact with all departments involved in the Manufacturing process by driving improvement to their quality and holding them accountable to follow General Motors Global Quality Manual. Your role will be integral to maintaining quality standards throughout the plant and ensuring Saginaw continues to deliver the best product to our customers.
Proficiency and knowledge of Manufacturing and the elements of the GM Quality System / GMS BIQ. Knowledge of the Quality Launch Plan and the requirements in the Global Quality Manual. Ability to coach, teach and audit elements of GM Quality Manual and GMS BIQ Principle and Elements. Managerial Courage to provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to Plant Staffs / Leadership in a considerate and professional manner. Present the Staff with clear problem definition, technical mentorship on complex problems, and regular updates on progress. Support Launch of new products in the plant when applicable.
What You'll Do :
• Responsible for overall oversight of all activities for Quality Assurance
• Manages the Department Level 2/3 Business Plan Deployment Board
• Facilitate, Coaches and Teaches GM-GMS - Maintains BIQ MEP
• Facilitate, Coaches and Teaches Quality Requirements, PCP, and T&E
• Manage Overall Global Customer Audit Process (people, process and data)
• Monitors plant processes to assure export regulations are being met / Leads CoP Requirements
• Support by auditing plant Internal Audits
• Department ILM Champion
• Facilitates Quality Department Meeting
• Manage/Admin for Plant Floor Change Mgt (PFCM) process
• Function as a Plant Internal Calibrator for BIQ / Facilitates the GMS BIQ Basketweave
• Serves as Single Point of Contact for Global Read Across and Safety Tethers
• Manages Fast Response and timeliness of deliverables
• Hosts BIQ Corporate Audits, GCA Corporate Monitoring Audits, Op Ex Reviews and GMAS
• Supports torque/weld/process audits with Corporate Auditor
• Supports external ISO Audits
• Lead new quality initiatives as rolled out by headquarters (E-QFC, etc)
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree Required
- Strong GMS Knowledge, Understanding, Skills and Experience (BIQ)
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience
- Knowledge/Understanding of Manufacturing Product and Processes
- Understanding of Global Customer Audit standards and Global Quality Manual process / requirements
- Understanding of Process Control Plans (PCP) and Tools and Equipment Bulletin (TEB) process / requirements
- Proficient with SharePoint and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
- Ability to Lead without Authority

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous Quality Experience within Casting and Machining
- Strong GMS Knowledge of the other 4 principles (PI, SLT, STD, CI)
