Program Quality Engineer
Description
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
The Program Quality Engineer (PQE) works cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, SQE, Validation, Manufacturing, CVO, and others to support program decisions, ensure customer-focused quality targets, and develop Vehicle Program Quality Plans covering VOC, Initial/Long-Term Quality, and Design Quality.
The PQE also serves as the lead arbitrator for software issues found in the Captured Test Fleet (CTF), investigating concerns, coordinating with SMEs, and communicating findings across forums. This role drives issue resolution for all Quality Fleets (CTF, ORVT, etc.), removing barriers to root cause and corrective action. Partnering with program teams and S&S, the PQE ensures new technologies, vehicle content, and countermeasures support high-quality launches.
A considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved, as well as a high level of independent judgment and autonomy.
What You'll Do:
- Partner with the Chief Engineer and Program Team to drive priorities, discipline, and achievement of Quality targets.
- Represent Voice of Customer and Quality in key Program Team forums (PET, VAPIR, CPIT, Dev-Val, PLSIE, etc.).
- Provide customer-focused data analysis to enable data-driven program decisions.
- Use Program Profile, Market Research, and Quality data to establish program targets and balanced strategies.
- Collaborate with AVD Engineering and Program Quality teams to verify critical Quality characteristics meet program goals.
- Lead risk assessments for new content and drive mitigation plans aligned with Quality targets and customer expectations.
- Follow standardized work defined in the Global Program Quality Plan.
- Lead Program Quality & Readiness Reviews (PQRRs) to confirm deliverables meet customer requirements and assess risk of non-green items.
- Manage the Captured Test Fleet (CTF) and lead cross-functional teams to rapidly address identified issues.
- Execute High-Fidelity CTF evaluations, CXCRs, and 4-corner rides to confirm design and customer experience.
- Develop plans and support execution of On-Road Vehicle Testing (ORVT).
- Drive CTF issue management: GIMS/PRTS ownership, RPN prioritization, SME support, and closure to VeSCoM expectations.
- Lead GIMS triage by assigning issue ownership and improving first-time issue assignment quality.
- Ensure issues are quickly investigated, root-caused, and resolved to support timely program decisions.
- Support issue resolution using fleet data tools, including VIP DTCs, data pulls, and log retrieval.
- Provide after-hours support for disabled vehicles, including data gathering, driver assistance, and recovery coordination.
