Manufacturing IT Operations Specialist

The Role:

As an Operations Support Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems, hardware, and peripherals. You will also document, maintain, upgrade, and replace hardware and software systems as needed.

This role requires familiarity with a broad range of IT concepts, practices, and procedures.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform tasks under the direction of the Site IT Manager, following established guidelines
  • Fulfill all responsibilities associated with the IT Operations Specialist role
  • Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals
  • Build and configure client systems (PCs, laptops, printers, wireless devices, tablets) according to standard procedures
  • Maintain accurate asset management records for all IT equipment
  • Leverage corporate IT tools for remote device management and user support
  • Support GM-managed LAN network infrastructure hardware (Access network hardware on mezzanine-level platforms using ladders or stairs as needed)
  • Provide support for teleconferencing devices
  • Maintain GM Best practice audit items, Documentation, Compliance Checks, Evidence Collection and Continuous improvement

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • DOCUMENT: Contributes to electronic collaboration in knowledge bases, AI, and inventory systems
  • SUPPORT: Delivers technical support across desktops, laptops, printers, tablets, handheld scanners, and mobile devices
  • STAGE AND TEST: Collaborates as part of a team to ensure end-user excellence by testing and validating OS updates and new software
  • IMPLEMENT/CONFIGURE: Demonstrates working knowledge in key technical areas including operating system support, peripheral installation, device calibration, and performance optimization
  • MONITORING: Provides reactive support for hardware, software and security incident response
  • PLANNING: Assists with system upgrades and migrations, supporting implementation and documentation under the guidance of senior IT staff
