Description

Purpose of Position:

Responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services to manufacture hoses of plastic or rubber and metal pipes of stainless steel. Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, negotiate threats of price increases, contracting Engineering changes, and interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent training/experience required

• Degree in Procurement, Accounting, Business, Engineering and/or MBA preferred

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Clear understanding of the variations of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP)
  • Clear understanding of the Global Propulsion System (GPS)
  • Understanding of the similar and difference between GVDP and GPS
  • All Sourcing and Contracting Activities that including sourcing event bid strategy & management, bid analytics, coordination and alignment of RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions, SOR, RFQ documentation, lead technical reviews with the bidders, leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment, and management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services
  • Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items
  • Drive commercial budget activities. Strong focus in cost reduction initiatives
  • Review weekly variance report to identify change in the Commodity APV
  • Support supply chain activities & disruptions to find alternative solutions, handling capacity tickets.
  • Support supplier management initiatives including "Strategic Supplier Engagement"
  • Keep Business Overtime Strategy, considering all suppliers
  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
  • Perform rate management activities including benchmarking, rate analysis, and read-across opportunities
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews
  • Participate in Engineering Change Team (ECT) meetings
  • Participate in Product Development Team (PDT) meetings
  • Lead BTAB process when they are required to support the modifications in the footprint of the supplier
  • Support nearshoring activities (Austin Project)
  • Support & engage in supply chain, resiliency & semiconductor activities
  • Update GSM in order to track every incoming sourcing and give visibility to the company.
  • Update information of coming sourcings in the internal pipeline file.
  • Generate strategies for any incoming sourcing, working with engineering, purchasing leadership and Program Teams.

Required Critical Skills:

  • Understanding of the process to manufacture plastic and steel
  • Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships
  • Experience managing commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
  • Demonstrated competence in negotiating skills
  • High level of analytical ability where problems can be somewhat complex
  • Experience with supply chain and logistics challenges
  • Experience with commodities (metals, stampings, castings, plastics, resins, paint, electronics, etc)
  • Clear understanding of the material indexation process
  • Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
  • Developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Preferred Critical Skills:

• Automotive industry experience

• Knowledge of procurement software

• Knowledge of materials management

• Capable of interpreting market data

• Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes

• Ability to work globally, independently, and self-directed

• Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

• Ability to travel at least 5% of time, including international travel

  • Knowledge of FX indexation
  • Knowledge of resins (plastics)
  • Knowledge of metal (Stainless steel)
