This role is categorized as hybrid, meaning the selected candidate will be expected to work on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week (or other frequency determined by their manager).

About the role:
We are seeking a Design Release Engineer responsible for the definition of requirements, design, development, and leadership of seat structures and components. While designing, developing, and integrating highly sophisticated and large scope program for front/rear structures. This dynamic role interacts with a variety of partners and relies on your high level of creativity, initiative, and reasoning ability to be successful. Experience with seating development, seat structure and/or components development and integration in multiple cycles of vehicle launch is preferred. Interested in joining our team? Read on and apply!
Responsibilities:
- Steer design and technical reviews for seat structure and subsystems within seating systems
- Define Interface Control Document (ICD) requirements for component and sub-system interfaces; navigate to reach agreement with interfacing components, work with others to resolve issues
- Guide and support the Product Development Team (PDT) for component/subsystems (e.g., timing, parts list, DFM, issue tracking)
- Perform appropriate studies/alternatives, and maintain program direction based upon cost, mass, timing, DFA, complexity and other commodity imperatives
- Release production design, on time, to meet commodity goals
- Conduct engineering and design reviews to insure 100 percent design fidelity
- Share Monitor focused problem-solving efforts on significant cost/quality/warranty issues on seat programs
- information to and from internal and external customer partners
- Direct the launch of new vehicle programs for seat structure subsystems at the assembly plants and supplier facilities

Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
- Minimum three years of experience in Product Development for current or future models' programs
- Ability to analyze 3D Math data and review designs using Vis-Mock-up
- Tactical planning (macro, micro, personal) skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
- Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel as needed (15% max)
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
Preferred:
- Product Design Release experience in automotive seating
- Knowledge of seat structure, industry seating requirements, FMVSS regulations and seat requirements
- Prior experience automotive OEM's and Seat Suppliers
- Experience with mechanisms, electrical interfaces, and seat packaging
- FEA setup, boundary condition development, and correlations to physical testing (Defining constraints)
- DFSS Component selection and Design robustness (Certified Black Belt preferred)
- RED-X problem solving skills for subsystem and vehicle performance (preferred)
