The Role:
In this role, you will coach, train, develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:
- Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group
- Administers divisional and Corporate policies
- Meets cost, schedule, and quality requirements
- Maintains Corporate and unit management control systems, budget, and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standards
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or project

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities.
- Manages the floor operations
- Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on safety initiatives
- Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations
- Excellent communication skills
- Planning and organizational ability
- Knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing Systems
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations
- Must be willing to rotate shifts
- Provide leadership for SPQRC for the department and lead the SPQRCE initiatives
- Knowledge of the total production process
- Communicate status to following shifts
- Champion of allocated BPD activities
- Discuss weekly production plan with production control
- Make adjustments to the schedule as needed as a result of production problems
- Allocate manpower as needed. Plan release for training
- Maintain shift/department safety by conducting audits, observations, and follow up of all incidents, ensuring corrective actions are in place as required and completed
- Works with maintenance on maintaining good TPM program
- Sign off standardized work charts
- Lead shift meetings for SPQRC
- Report shift status to Assistant Plant Manager (APM); Prepare and conduct daily report outs
- Coach Group leaders and improve their skills, knowledge, and performance
- Execute CIP workshops in the areas of Quality & Cost
- Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures
- Support APM to resolve manpower issues in conjunction with union
- Manages budget and achievement of productivity improvements
- Ensure cost control achieves budget needs
- Interacts with Local ME on processing, lay out and tooling for current and future products
- Demonstrated experience and ability negotiating with the union leadership and managing both salary and hourly personnel concerns
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience in Machining
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Demonstrated ability and experience as a people leader
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management leadership skills
- Ability to travel 25% of the time based on business needs domestically and/or internationally.
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master's Degree
- 7+ years of relevant Machining
- Experience with GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP)
- Knowledge of system engineering, software development, and hardware integration
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area

Compensation:
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
• The salary range for this role is ($114,400 - $179,000). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
• Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
