ARC Product Integration Engineer
Description
At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We're turning today's impossible into tomorrow's standard -from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.
Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.
ARC Productization Engineer
At General Motors, our ARC (Advanced Robotics Center) team is redefining how robotics enable safer, more flexible, and more efficient manufacturing. We are developing and deploying next-generation robotic solutions that move materials, automate complex tasks, and unlock new levels of throughput and quality in our plants.
The ARC Productization Engineer serves as the critical link between ARC Product Development and downstream Product Execution and Deployment teams. In this role, you will ensure that ARC-developed robotics solutions are manufacturing-ready , validated for proof-of-concept (PoC) testing , and prepared for scalable deployment across GM plants. Working primarily in the plant environment, you will identify and close readiness gaps, drive integration and validation activities, and enable a smooth handoff from development to execution.
The Role
Acting on behalf of the ARC Product Development organization, the ARC Productization Engineer operates at the intersection of product engineering , manufacturing operations , and deployment . You will:
- Represent ARC at manufacturing plants, serving as the on-site technical owner for ARC products during PoC, pilot, and early deployment.
- Translate plant needs, constraints, and lessons learned into clear requirements and feedback for ARC Product Development.
- Build and maintain product readiness views that describe what is required to move from prototype to robust, repeatable deployment.
This is a highly hands-on, on-site role that combines technical depth, structured problem solving, and strong cross-functional communication.
What You'll Do
- Independently represent ARC Product Development at GM manufacturing plants to plan and execute ARC product proof-of-concept and pilot deployments .
- Lead product readiness assessments , identifying gaps in:
- Design maturity and robustness
- Manufacturability and serviceability
- Documentation and standard work
- Safety, compliance, and operating procedures
- Process readiness in the plant (material flow, layout, staffing, training)
- Support on-site integration, validation, and early deployment activities in Flint, MI and/or Spring Hill, TN, including:

- Functional performance in plant conditions
- Safety and compliance with GM and regulatory requirements
- Operability, maintainability, and usability for plant teams
- Support the creation and execution of PoC and pilot validation plans , ensuring they are:
- Structured to generate actionable learnings (not just demonstrations)
- Traceable to requirements from ARC Product Development and plant stakeholders
- Repeatable across multiple plants and product configurations
- Document findings, risks, and mitigation plans, and track closure with ARC and plant teams.
2. Plant Integration & Deployment Support
- Plan and coordinate on-site activities required to deploy ARC products into live manufacturing environments, including:
- Site readiness reviews (layout, infrastructure, IT/OT, material flow)
- Installation, commissioning, and integration of ARC systems
- Interfaces with plant safety systems, material handling, and operations
- Work hands-on with plant personnel to stabilize early deployments, debug issues, and align on operational envelopes and constraints.
- Ensure that ARC products are introduced in a way that minimizes disruption to plant operations while maximizing learning value.
3. Handoff to Execution & Scaling
- Build and maintain deployment-ready documentation , including:
- System overviews and interface definitions
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
- Maintenance and troubleshooting guides
- Training materials for operators, maintenance, and engineering
- Define and communicate clear handoff criteria from Product Development to Product Execution and Deployment teams.
- Support the transition from one-off PoCs to repeatable deployment playbooks that can be applied across multiple plants and programs.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as the on-site SME for ARC products, translating between:
- ARC engineers and plant teams
- Suppliers and GM stakeholders
- Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations
- Capture and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities across design, validation, documentation, and deployment processes.
- Help refine ARC's manufacturing readiness and launch frameworks based on real-world experience in GM plants.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- 3+ years of experience working in or directly supporting manufacturing plant environments .
- Working knowledge of Global Supply Chain (GSC), Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering processes and how they interact with plant operations.

- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology , understand system behavior in the field, and become the subject matter expert (SME) at a deployment site.
- Proven capability to work independently in a plant environment, manage day-to-day priorities, and escalate issues appropriately.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) , pilot programs, or proof-of-concept deployments in manufacturing.
- Background in robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing systems , especially in production environments.
- Familiarity with manufacturing readiness, validation, or launch frameworks , including how to define and measure readiness criteria.
- Experience developing handoff documentation and playbooks between engineering, deployment, and plant operations teams.
- Hands-on experience with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) , industrial robots, or similar mechatronic systems.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments , balancing speed of learning with the rigor needed for safety and quality.
