System Engineer - Automotive Actuation Systems

Job Summary
Motion Controls international (MCi), a Flex company, is the global market leader in mirror glass and power-folding actuators. As part of our continued growth, MCi is expanding its portfolio into advanced automotive actuation solutions, including Active Aerodynamics and Motor Cooling Management systems.
To support our engineering organization and ambitious product roadmap, we are looking for a System Engineer to join our team in Woerden, Netherlands.
In this role, you will lead the multidisciplinary system design of smart precision actuators, working across mechanical, hardware, and software domains from concept through industrialization and series production. You will play a key role in defining system architecture, requirements, integration, and verification strategies, ensuring our products meet customer expectations and industry standards.
What a typical day looks like
- Translate customer and stakeholder needs into clear system requirements for development and testing.
- Develop logical and physical system architectures and define key interfaces.
- Define system integration, verification, and validation strategies across mechanical, hardware, and software disciplines.
- Provide technical leadership for cross-functional development teams and system integration activities.
- Review technical solutions and documentation across software, hardware, and mechanical engineering.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers and critical suppliers.
- Drive engineering excellence through the application of Automotive quality standards and development processes.
- Own key system engineering deliverables, including requirements and system design documentation.
- Facilitate technical discussions, identify risks, and support issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO/WO) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary product development environments involving hardware, software, and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, requirements management, and system architecture development.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion, DOORS, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Automotive standards, quality systems, and engineering processes such as ASPICE, Functional Safety, DFMEA, and IATF 16949.
- Understanding of mass-production environments and product development for automotive or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience with 3D CAD tools (Creo preferred) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
