Job Summary

To support our manufacturing operations, we are looking for an SMT Process Engineer to join our team at Guadalajara North Campus.

Reporting to the Process Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing critical SMT processes, ensuring the proper execution of production plans, and leading technical activities to meet quality, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement objectives.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Supervise and coordinate technical activities within SMT production processes.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize programs for DEK, SPI, Camalot, and Press Fit equipment.
  • Analyze and validate stencils; perform SPI debug and Pick & Place failure analysis.
  • Develop and validate reflow profiles, including instrumentation of profiling boards.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures, visual aids, and technical documentation.
  • Perform capacity analysis, calculate rates per station, and identify process bottlenecks.
  • Lead and document continuous improvement initiatives and Kaizen events.
  • Establish and manage manufacturing processes aligned with customer specifications.
  • Drive improvements focused on yield increase, scrap reduction, and cycle time optimization.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to PCB assembly processes.
  • Conduct CPK studies for solder paste processes and ensure process capability.
  • Design and develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures, and ensure proper implementation in production.
  • Ensure proper documentation and process validation according to customer and internal standards.
  • Evaluate manufacturability and support design for manufacturing (DFM) activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Actively participate in daily production support and real-time problem solving.
  • Prepare capital expenditure justifications for new equipment acquisition.
  • Execute and support engineering changes (ECOs/ECRs).
  • Perform process parameter characterization to ensure robustness and repeatability.
  • Develop and implement new process control methodologies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics, Mechatronics or related).
  • Experience in SMT, PTH, and Backend processes.
  • Strong knowledge in SPI, edge bonding, and smart torque systems.
  • Experience with stencil design, reflow profiling, tooling/fixture design, and pallet validation.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards, CPK analysis, and CAD/Gerber files.
  • Knowledge of production control systems (traceability, serial control, process flows).
  • Previous experience leading or supervising technical teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to support production schedules.
