Job Summary
Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we're calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add an Automation Engineer located in Guadalajara, North Campus.
Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager the Automation Engineer will support automation initiatives across manufacturing operations by providing technical expertise in automation equipment, vision systems, robotics, and thermal automation processes. This role focuses on implementing, troubleshooting, and sustaining automation solutions that improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
What a typical day looks like:
- Support the implementation, validation, and sustainment of automation projects within manufacturing operations.
- Provide technical support for automation equipment and related manufacturing processes.
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize automation systems and equipment.
- Support automation initiatives related to Liquid Cooling, Cold Plate, and Thermal Automation processes.
- Implement and maintain machine vision systems for manufacturing applications.
- Work with industrial robots, including Epson robotics and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), such as MiR.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to improve operational performance.
- Analyze automation equipment performance and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support equipment debugging, startup activities, and process validations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or similar.
- Intermediate English (written and spoken).
- Experience programming and troubleshooting automation equipment.
- Experience supporting manufacturing automation processes and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of machine vision systems and industrial robotics.
- Knowledge of industrial controls, sensors, actuators, PLCs, and automation systems.
- Experience with Epson robots and/or AMR solutions is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work in a manufacturing environment and provide floor support.
- Schedule flexibility to support evening or night shifts.
