The Role
The Fund Research Analyst position offers a valuable opportunity to learn and excel within the Fidelity Institutional Wealth Adviser (FIWA) Research team. The role involves conducting investment manager due diligence research; as well as supporting initiatives from partners within the organization. The core responsibilities include:
Primarily, conducting manager research/ongoing due diligence of actively managed fixed income investment strategies, including mutual funds, separately managed accounts (SMAs), and other investment vehicles. You will lead due-diligence meetings with portfolio managers to discuss their investment philosophy and process, their team's investment biases, and their strategy's risk and return characteristics among others. You will use appropriate analytical and research tools to conduct independent and thorough research. The objective is to combine qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate the manager's skills and identify key performance drivers and potential risks. You will document your evidence-based research and analysis, and be able to make appropriate recommendations.
Additionally, providing support for key partners including Workplace Investing, Model Portfolios, Fidelity Managed Account Exchange (FMAX), and others.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree required, Masters and/or CFA credential preferred (or progressing towards CFA charter); Series 7 and 63 licenses a plus
- Sound analytical mind-set; and communication skills (verbal and written)
- 2-5 years of relevant experience, and good understanding of investment products. Ideally prior experience in manager research covering actively managed fixed income mutual funds, SMAs and other investment vehicles.
- Strong expertise in manager research/analytical tools (such as Morningstar, FactSet, eVestment) preferred.
- Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet concurrent and frequent deadlines.
- Independent but also able to balance independence with team work and collaboration.
- 10-20% national travel required

The Team
FIWA Research team provides superior fund analysis and investment thought leadership to the Fidelity Workplace Investing and Fidelity Institutional client-facing teams, as well as institutional clients including retirement plan sponsors and investment advisors. The FIWA Research team prepares and distributes analysis of fund performance and investment strategies to Fidelity's institutional clients.
The base salary range for this position is $80,000-153,000 USD per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
