Director, Market Research
Fidelity Charitable is looking for a Director of Market Research to join our research team. This role will play a critical part in helping Fidelity Charitable understand the evolving philanthropic landscape, donor needs, and competitive environment. Working within a small, collaborative team, the analyst will scope, lead, and execute research projects that provide actionable insights to inform long-term strategy, business decisions, and program development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct primary and secondary research to evaluate market dynamics, donor behavior, and the competitive landscape in philanthropy and adjacent industries.
- Scope, design, and manage research projects from start to finish, including framing research questions, methodology selection, execution, and synthesis of results.
- Translate data and findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor and report on emerging trends in giving, nonprofit innovation, wealth management, and adjacent sectors that influence donor behavior.
- Develop and maintain tracking tools, dashboards, and reports to monitor competitor activity, donor preferences, and market opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal partners (e.g., product, marketing, donor engagement) to align research efforts with organizational priorities.
- Present research findings and strategic implications in written reports, presentations, and discussions with senior leaders.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 5-7 years of experience in market research, competitive intelligence, or strategy-related roles.
- Proven ability to conduct both primary (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups) and secondary research (e.g., market analysis, industry reports, databases).
- Experience scoping and leading research projects independently and in partnership with external vendors or consultants.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor findings for diverse audiences, including executives.
- Proficiency with research tools and data visualization platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Tableau).
- Advanced degree in business, economics, marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Familiarity with the philanthropy, nonprofit, financial services, or wealth management sectors is highly desirable.

The Team
Fidelity Charitable is a public charity that sponsors the largest national donor-advised fund program. Since 1991, Fidelity Charitable has introduced tens of thousands of donors to the benefits - and increased charitable impact - of using a donor-advised fund to meet their philanthropic goals. Fidelity Charitable is governed by an independent Board of Trustees, which has hired Fidelity Investments as the service provider to the charity. Fidelity Investments provides all the charitable organization's employees and supports all its functions: Program Development, Marketing, Service Delivery, Relationship Management, Finance, Technology, Risk and Compliance, and Fundraising.
The base salary range for this position is $103,000-211,000 USD per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
