Job Description

As a valued leader on the Single-Family Risk team, you will manage and oversee loan quality and compliance reviews across loan origination, property valuation, and credit underwriting. You will ensure adherence to Fannie Mae's eligibility requirements, underwriting standards, and quality assurance processes while identifying risks related to misrepresentation and fraud. In this role, you will partner closely with internal policy, strategy, and business teams to ensure accurate reporting of credit and collateral quality, communicate loan defects to internal and external stakeholders, and support resolution of issues in collaboration with lenders and internal partners.

This role centers on leading Fannie Mae's repurchasing process, requiring strong coordination with customers and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Oversee repurchase activity, guide lender discussions, evaluate responses and rebuttals, and resolve complex repurchase and make-whole requests.
  • Manage and oversee team reviews of appraisals, credit files, and complete loan file documentation to ensure compliance with Fannie Mae underwriting standards, eligibility requirements, and quality assurance expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to evaluate potential fraud risks, support investigative methodologies, and resolve complex loan quality issues.
  • Lead team efforts to research and analyze information from loan documentation, public records, and proprietary risk models to inform risk and strategy decisions.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of loan quality findings and trends, including reviews of internal work products for consistency.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to communicate findings, align on remediation strategies, and support risk-mitigation outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements and supporting strategic initiatives.

Minimum Required Experience

  • 6 years of related experience in mortgage risk, underwriting, compliance, fraud investigation, or quality assurance.
  • Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior people leadership or team-lead experience.
  • Experience managing lender relationships and complex stakeholder communications.
