In this compelling leadership position, you will be accountable for developing data infrastructure and pipelines to capture, integrate, organize, and centralize data while testing and ensuring data is readily accessible and in a usable state, including quality assurance.
The Senior Director, Data Engineering - Single-Family is responsible for leading Data teams supporting the Single-Family business and for defining, executing, and implementing the strategy for structured and unstructured data in alignment with Enterprise Data strategy. This role partners closely with Enterprise Data teams and key stakeholders across the enterprise to deliver scalable, secure, and modern data capabilities that drive business outcomes.
This leader will be accountable for driving data modernization, enabling AI and advanced analytics, leading large-scale transformation programs, and building strong partnerships across business and technology functions. The role requires a combination of deep data engineering expertise, cloud and AI knowledge, mortgage domain understanding, and strong application engineering and delivery experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the Single-Family data engineering strategy for structured and unstructured data in alignment with Enterprise Data strategy.
- Own execution and implementation of the data strategy, ensuring delivery of measurable business outcomes.
- Lead the design, development, and modernization of scalable data platforms, pipelines, and engineering capabilities on AWS cloud.
- Partner with Enterprise Data teams, architecture, product, engineering, security, risk, and business stakeholders to align priorities and execution.
- Drive large-scale transformation programs spanning data modernization, platform evolution, legacy simplification, and delivery improvement.
- Enable AI, machine learning, and unstructured data use cases through strong data architecture and engineering foundations.
- Establish and maintain strong data governance, quality, control, and operational practices within a regulated environment.
- Oversee delivery across multiple teams and initiatives, ensuring execution excellence, transparency, and accountability.
- Influence senior executives and stakeholders on strategy, priorities, investment decisions, and roadmap direction.
- Lead organizational change and build a high-performing leadership team and engineering culture.
- Provide leadership beyond core data engineering by applying experience in application engineering, software delivery, and broader portfolio execution.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive experience in technology leadership roles with significant scope in data engineering, enterprise data transformation and application development .
- Strong experience defining and executing enterprise or business-unit data strategies.
- Deep knowledge of modern data engineering, including structured and unstructured data platforms, data pipelines, integration patterns, metadata, data quality, and governance.
- Strong AWS cloud experience.
- Experience enabling AI/ML or GenAI use cases through enterprise data platforms and architecture.
- Experience leading large-scale programs and major transformation initiatives.
- Experience in data engineering as well as application development, engineering delivery, or portfolio delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication, executive influence, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change in a complex, matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mortgage, housing finance, or financial services domains.
- Experience supporting Single-Family business capabilities or related functional domains.
- Experience in regulated environments with strong risk, compliance, and control requirements.
