Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team you will play a critical role in supporting a fast-paced mortgage trading desk. Working closely with traders, dealers, and internal partners, you will help ensure accurate trade execution, timely settlements, and actionable market insight. This role offers meaningful exposure to mortgage markets while contributing directly to desk performance and decision-making.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The MBS Desk Analyst Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Support the Single-Family mortgage trading desk by providing real-time operational and transactional coverage.
  • Build and maintain relationships with financial dealers and market participants to source pricing and market color on mortgage-backed securities (MBS).
  • Monitor market conditions and trading activity, identifying trends and supporting strategy execution.
  • Utilize internal valuation, risk, and market data tools to track activity and support analysis.
  • Perform core trade operations, including trade entry, validation, confirmation, and maintenance of accurate desk records.
  • Investigate and resolve trade discrepancies in partnership with traders and internal stakeholders.
  • Support pool creation and downstream execution by preparing and submitting pools to ensure timely and accurate settlement.
  • Provide flexible support across the broader mortgage trading platform while developing deeper expertise in pipeline, pooling, and desk workflows.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Desired Experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Finance or Economics preferred.
  • Early exposure to capital markets or finance through internships, analyst programs, rotational roles, or entry-level positions; familiarity with mortgage products or MBS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce timely reporting and ad hoc analysis, including aggregating data and responding to time-sensitive desk requests.
  • Strong Excel skills, with experience working with large datasets, building repeatable reports, and using formulas; VBA experience is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to analytical or development tools such as VBA, SQL, Python, or similar, with an emphasis on practical application.
  • Interest in a desk-facing analyst role with ownership of reporting, analysis, and business insights.
  • Intellectual curiosity about mortgage markets and a willingness to learn, ask questions, and deepen technical understanding.
  • High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to perform reliably in a fast-paced, deadline-driven market environment.

The hiring range for this role is set forth below.
