Job Description
As a valued contributor on our team, the Deputy General Counsel for Regulatory Compliance and Strategy reports directly to the SVP and Principal Deputy General Counsel. The role will be focused on providing advice and counsel on federal charter and public policy issues, and on legislative activities related to housing finance and the secondary mortgage market.

The Deputy General Counsel for Regulatory Compliance and Strategy role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the Fannie Mae Charter and related laws, including HERA
- Engage with external stakeholders such as Treasury, FHFA, and policymakers, as appropriate
- Advise leadership and contribute to the development of strategies to navigate a changing regulatory and legislative environment
- Support the business in adapting to evolving regulatory requirements and policy developments
- Prepare submissions for and engage in consultations with regulators
- Provide advice and guidance on housing-related legislation
- Brief executive management on regulatory developments and recommend appropriate organizational responses
- Support senior leadership in public policy analysis, industry analysis, and strategic planning related to the future of the housing industry and the role of the GSEs
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experiences and Skills
- 8 years of experience
- Juris Doctorate
- Expertise in assessing legal issues and helping clients to navigate complex regulatory environments
- Experience with representing clients before regulatory agencies, participating in rulemaking proceedings, and evaluating legislative and policy developments
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
