Description
The Team Lead: Data Administration - Amendments & Deletes is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all data maintenance activities across Experian's consumer and commercial data environments.
The role manages, coordinates, and monitors the full lifecycle of data amendments, deletions, dispute resolutions, and legally sensitive updates, ensuring adherence to strict SLA, audit, and regulatory obligations.

This position provides operational leadership, quality assurance oversight, and expert guidance to the Data Amendments and Deletes team, maintaining high quality service to credit providers, bureaus, debt counsellors, internal stakeholders, and consumers.
The Team Lead is essential for maintaining business continuity, mitigating compliance risk, and upholding Experian's data governance standards.
Operational & Process Management
- Oversee, coordinate, and control all incoming data maintenance requests, ensuring accurate, validated, and timeous processing.
- Monitor workflow across multiple pipelines and ensure all activities adhere to internal standards and agreed SLAs (including 18‑day dispute resolution obligations).
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all amendments and deletes across Experian systems.
Dispute Resolution & Compliance
- Manage and resolve consumer and credit provider disputes within mandated timeframes.
- Oversee validated dispute processes to ensure legislative and bureau compliance.
- Ensure documentation and evidence are complete, audit‑ready, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Judgement & Commercial Data Updates
- Oversee and quality check the processing of:
- Judgment rescissions and paid‑up judgments
- Duplicate judgment removals
- CIPC commercial updates
- Commercial judgment amendments
- Identity / Passport number merges and name changes
- Ensure processes involving legal documents are meticulously validated and compliant.
Debt Counselling Case Management
- Manage the processing of:
- Debt review flags
- Form 19 updates
- Paid‑up letters
- Removal or correction of accounts linked to debt counselling
- Maintain compliance with NCR regulations.
Credit Provider & Stakeholder Queries
- Lead the resolution of escalated queries from credit providers, debt counsellors, bureaus, SACRRA, CBA, and internal support units.
- Provide expertise on data quality, disputes, and regulatory standards.
Reporting, Controls & Audit Readiness
- Maintain complete, accurate, and up‑to‑date internal control documentation.
- Produce SLA reports, operational performance reports, audit reports, and compliance submissions.
- Ensure reporting integrity and readiness for internal/external audit reviews.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct quality checks on amendment files, dispute resolutions, and legally sensitive updates.
- Ensure alignment with internal data quality frameworks.
Project & Change Management
- Lead ad hoc data maintenance projects and system/process changes.
- Allocate resources effectively and ensure delivery of agreed milestones on time.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Provide clear direction, coaching, performance management, and resource planning for the Data Amendments & Deletes team.
- Maintain team stability, morale, productivity, and knowledge continuity.
- Develop team capabilities to meet evolving operational and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- MS Office certification (advantage)
Experience
- 3+ years data processing experience in financial services.
- 3+ years customer service experience (preferably in data or credit environments).
- 1+ year experience in people leadership or team supervision.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Data maintenance and quality assurance
- Dispute resolution
- Regulatory and audit driven processes
- Stakeholder and people management

Technical Skills
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic SQL (advantageous).
- Solid understanding of credit bureau data structures, dispute regulations, and credit provider processes.
Critical Competencies
- Ability to oversee high‑risk data processes with strict regulatory implications.
- Strong understanding of SLA management, audit requirements, and compliance obligations.
- Skilled in identifying operational risks, quality issues, and governance gaps.
- Capable of maintaining operational continuity and stability during high‑pressure periods.
- Strong stakeholder management with credit providers, bureaus, and regulatory bodies.
- Leadership capability to prevent team burnout, ensure knowledge transfer, and preserve service quality.
