Description

We are looking for a high‑performing Principal Architect to join the ESS - Technology Software Engineering (ID&F) organization.

You will be #LI-hybrid based in Hyderabad and reporting to Head of Engineering.

This role demands a proven technical leader with deep engineering and architectural experience, capable of shaping large‑scale, mission‑critical platforms across multi‑cloud environments.

As a Principal Architect, you will define the technical vision, architectural strategy, and modernization blueprint for ID&F products.

You will partner with engineering, security, product, and operations teams to deliver secure, resilient, scalable, and high‑performing systems powering global Decisioning capabilities.

• Define, evolve, and govern the target-state architecture spanning Azure, AWS, and hybrid deployments.
• Architect highly scalable, cloud-native backend systems built on C#/.NET Core, Laravel/PHP, and modern service-oriented patterns.
• Establish standards for microservices, event-driven architectures, API ecosystems, and fault‑tolerant, distributed systems.
• Drive data architecture decisions across SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Redis, and high-throughput caching strategies.
• Provide architectural direction for modern UI frameworks, including server-driven UI (HTMX), Bootstrap, and lightweight JavaScript stacks.
• Lead modernization of legacy components-PDF pipelines, monoliths, and older PHP modules-to modern, maintainable architectures.
• Serve as the architectural authority for engineering teams, influencing design decisions, coding standards, and technical best practices.
• Conduct architecture reviews, produce system diagrams, and define integration patterns across ID&F and related ESS components.
• Partner with Security, SRE, DevOps, and Product teams to ensure solutions meet compliance, operational readiness, and resiliency standards.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to guide long‑term platform evolution.
• Integration & ModernizationLead integration planning between ID&F and the broader ESS Decisioning ecosystem.
• Define modernization strategies for legacy systems such as Braintree integrations, PHP modules, and large document‑generation workflows.
• Establish standards for interoperability using REST APIs, message queues, event streaming, and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Quality, Performance & Operational ExcellenceEnsure system designs meet stringent requirements for scalability, observability, fault tolerance, and performance.
• Provide architectural oversight for CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment standards.
• Conduct deep technical assessments and root-cause analysis to identify bottlenecks and improve system performance.
• Drive architectural consistency, reduce technical debt, and ensure long-term maintainability across all ID&F modules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 15+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering and architecture.
• Strong expertise in C#/.NET Core, API architecture, cloud-native design, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Laravel/PHP and legacy modernization patterns.
• Solid understanding of UI architecture using HTMX, Bootstrap, and Alpine.js (or similar).
• Deep experience with SQL Server, Cosmos DB, Redis, including data modeling, performance tuning, and scalability.
• Background in PDF/document processing pipelines (e.g., GhostScript, merging workflows).
• Experience with Braintree or similar payment/transaction frameworks.
• Deep architectural knowledge of Azure and AWS multi-cloud ecosystems.
• Strong experience in defining DevOps, CI/CD standards, and automation pipelines.
• Lead cross-functional architecture discussions and influence technology strategy.
• Excellent system design experience.
